17.01.2022 I’ve lived and breathed Mona Vale beach for 39 years , and a lot has changed over this time. But what is being proposed to replace the existing toilet block between main beach and basin really upsets me. I 100% agree a new toilet block and surf club are needed to service our beach and community, however the proposed new toilet block is over the top with a 330 sq m negative impact on a beautiful part of the beach and the only area families, surfers and swimmers can gather to ...enjoy both sides of our unique beach. It features up to 12 toilets( 6 men 6 women) with showers plus a unisex bathroom with shower, never is there people waiting to use the facilities over summer with most choosing the outdoor shower , a new toilet block will also be built in apex park to service families enjoying it, but it also has 62m sq lifeguard facilities which perhaps the most mind boggling as the flagged area is usually 100m from this point ! Plus the paid professionals only patrol during daylight savings months, they have always shared with the SLSC which is 50 m south , still another 50m to the safest swimming spot. With a new surf club being built why can’t they share as they have always done, after all they share a common goal, to save lives! This reeks of elements inside Mona Vale surf club being self interested and selfish as I believe the new surf club is mainly members only which is a minor percentage of our community. A wiser move would be to shift the entire surf club(remember it’s a totally new build, nothing will remain)to the top of Darley st directly in front of the flagged area thus creating a safer more easily patrolled beach for everyone, plus a better area for families to set up for a day at the beach. Feel free to comment in any way and please go to http://chng.it/bvsZfjtCHr To sign the petition to change the design! Dru @ Mona Vale, New South Wales, Australia See more
