21.01.2022 Happy Sunday. The only thing better than running/walking our parkrun is volunteering at it. You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give. Vollieing rocks at our parkrun, we ease every new person into it with a healthy level of sarcasm, inappropriate, yet well timed humour and most of all; love.

19.01.2022 And now we’re 100! Thank you to the 43 participants and to our wonderful volunteers - it felt like we’d never been away. We will see you again next week! - A2 and the OVp team

19.01.2022 And that's a wrap... Thanks to the awesome volunteers, Aida, Jochem, Amanda, Tracey, Jo, Kelly, Jodie, Aurelia, Petrea and last but not least Kathy. This week 26 people ran, jogged and walked Ocean View parkrun. We had 12 first timers and 3 recorded a new Personal Bests. Congratulation to Faye, Mark and Andrew with your PB.... Photos coming soon. Cheers, Arjan

14.01.2022 It’s Hot! Hot! Hotter than hot! it’s worse than Hades gates, and that’s hot enough! * So - we love a dress up as much as the next and we said yes to the idea of full regalia on our earlier post - but since tomorrow is due to be hotter than today, and today is horribly sapping - we’re calling it sensible to just limit our nod to 100 to headwear themes.... Don’t own a crown? We love paper ones as much as we do the gold with a pearl inlay..... #DFYB #DFYC ... *Bonus OVp music Cred if you can recognize either of the two songs I was thinking of as I wrote the opening...

10.01.2022 When we start on Saturday - we do so knowing that things are a little different than in March. We can’t do cake, we can’t bring you water, and we can’t offer you a key box. We can offer you a fun morning with our team, and we can definitely offer you the baddest hill in the business. To make sure we stay active, and so we stay in the good graces of the CHO - please make sure you read and understand the rules for volunteers and for participants in the attached images - Team OVp

09.01.2022 Cool. Calm. Collected - and looking awesome! But enough about me - the course is looking pretty schmick as well! See you soon for the second leg of your double up weekend!

07.01.2022 Sometimes it is the little detail you miss - this week's #TTLY is a beautiful shot made even more amazing when you realize the blue spot in the middle is the moon working in concert with a glowing sunrise

07.01.2022 This little legend is not only one our favourite locals and parkrunners she also decided on a whim to do the Mt Mee Half Mara on Sunday and snagged 3rd female and 9th overall. Oh so humble and always supportive, we are so glad parkrun brought us all together! Well done Anne-Maree Facy!!

06.01.2022 Curse you Covid - far too many serious posts this week for my liking.... Anyway..... As you would know - contact tracing provides Qld Health the ability to rapidly respond to any outbreaks of Corona Virus. Part of the requirements for parkrun to restart included the provision of ability to help contact tracing and so each event now has a unique QR code to capture attendance. The Ocean View code is below - and we ask you to register on the day, either through this version on the page, or using the printed examples we'll have at the course. If your phone can't process the QR code, please use the web address shown underneath it.

05.01.2022 Feels like home! See you soon, family!

05.01.2022 Spring has sprung; look at these teeny tiny little shoots that were captured during an afternoon stroll of the Ocean View Estates grounds. K1 xx

04.01.2022 This week our parkrun participation numbers increased exponentially to 45 with a visit from a heap of parkrun Event Ambassadors, which also accounted for the majority of our first timers. Of note were four actual first timers to parkrun proper, firstly Imogen. Well done on your first non-stop 5k Imogen, you chose an easy track for it! Welcome and well done to Fiona, Hayden and Madeline too, we hope you loved it (I know that’s a strong word when it comes to The Hill of Despair). See you next week k1 xxoo

02.01.2022 Yes!! We are back, baby! The long wait is over, the drought has broken, the hills are once more alive with the sounds of parkrun - and we’re waiting on our telegram from this lady! Surely not! we hear you cry, you’re so young and beautiful - you don’t look an event over 75. But yes, dear reader, it is true - this young upstart is turning 100 this week! And since we were made to wait since March 14 to celebrate - it promises to be a very big O indeed....

02.01.2022 Orange is the new black, no not that TV show, volleying, it's bonuses are endless at Ocean View parkrun: 1. You get to wear this very fashionable vest that never fits anyone right, no matter what size you choose; 2. You get to be part of the banter and healthy sarcasm that our run directing team survives on;... 3. You go home feeling quite accomplished that you have given something to your community; 4. Right now, you don't have to run in the cold, you can rug up like the Michelin Man and not feel that sweaty yet freezing feeling of running in winter at our parkrun. Sure some people like that and think winter's a great time to run, and we embrace those weirdos too. K1 xoxo
