20.01.2022 Over the past few months I have been involved in photographing all stages of the making of the Bust Bronze Sculpture of a very well know local identity. My involvement started with the re-production of the photos of the person, to photographing all stages & today the pouring of the Bronze Sculpture. I may share more photos after the unveiling however this will depend on permission of the Family & the Local Sculptor. Today's pouring was amazing to watch.
20.01.2022 Humpback whales off Tuross Head today. The count for today was 5 Dolphins & 29 Humpback whales. At 3.50pm there was an amazing triple breach by two adult & 1 calf humpback whales. My camera was not on the whale when they did the breach. It was amazing sight for a couple of us at the point. 18.01.2022 Wishing you all a lovely Christmas & here is a very meaning poem that depicts this year. T'was a week before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks,... That covered their frown. The frown had begun Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s December And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, Who will see it, No one but me. But outside my window The rain gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas is not cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope See more
17.01.2022 Orrca Research Counting was carried out at Tuross Head every day in June & July while the whales migrated to the north. Additional counting was carried out on certain days in October while the whales migrate back to the south. During June & July Humpback Whales 259, Southern Right Whales 1, Pilot Whales 3, Dolphins 438 Approx., Seals 43 & Penguins 1. In October on the days counting Humpback Whales 150, Southern Right Whales 3, Seals 2 & Dolphins 78 approximately. The mega pod of whales was on 27 September & it is estimated that over 500 whales were between Narooma & Montague Island on this day. Whales will still be coming through to the end of November. What a fantastic sight - thank you There are 4 planes flying over our area for the past week & provide a display of formation flying & flying maneuvers. 01.01.2022 Whales are on the South Coast of NSW by the 100s feeding off the coast. For the first time in 30 years we heard the whales singing while standing on the shore line. The high winds were blowing the sound towards us. The photos have been taken over the past 24 hours from the shore line & very large pods are visible from the many viewing points. If you are intending visiting the Coast over the next few weeks look out for the whales close to shore & out wide. What we are seeing at the moment is amazing.
