23.01.2022 Hello, I though would introduce myself to those who haven’t yet met me. I’m Sharon, the lady at the sewing machine and the maker of lovely linen products and owner of Ochre and Blue Living. It was my love of linen that inspired me to create a range of napkins, aprons and bread bags and/or produce bags that can be simply used within your home and daily living.... Not long ago I moved to a rural area in south west Queensland and it was here, in this amazing environment, the inspiration for Ochre and Blue Living came to be. It is also representative of the places my husband Gary and I have lived, the Sunshine Coast, the Torres Strait, the Central Australian Outback and now here in Quilpie. I love being at home, wherever that may be, to create a calm and welcoming space. I also love to entertain and cook for family and friends. This gives me the opportunity to create a beautiful setting and utilise beautiful linen napkins, candles and natural foliage. To live more simply and naturally, hence my quote ‘Living Simply With Linen’. 20.01.2022 Living Simply With Linen: A little story about Grandma’s Apron ....Author Unknown @_pinstrest ... Grandma’s apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had a few, it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children’s tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids. And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees, or peaches, or pecans. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. 11.01.2022 It’s nice to take time, slow down, tidy the surroundings and bake some scones. I like to put a little French music on when I bake, how about you? This scone recipe is the best:... 4 cups of self-raising flour 300ml of cream 1 cup of lemonade Preheat oven 200 degrees Celsius. Sift the flour into your bowl. Add cream and lemonade and mix gently with a knife, don’t over mix. Pat out dough and cut scones with a cutter. Place on a tray and bake for 12-15 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius Now to prepare your table. Here I used our ‘Ice Pink’ linen tablecloth and ‘Sand’ linen napkins.
