24.01.2022 Supporting Aboriginal artists is something were very passionate about at Ochre Dawn - and that includes performing artists. Given the debilitating loss of gigs and therefore income due to current world events we applaud this outstanding initiative. Tag any Indigenous musicians, dancers, singers and other performers you know in the comments below. And be sure to support this cause by purchasing tickets for a concert in your own lounge room! #covid19 #socialisolation https://www.moogahlin.org/moogahl-live

24.01.2022 I was researching Reconciliation with consideration to current affairs and was looking for a pin I could wear on my uniform. I am a Police officer, and like many people at the moment I am feeling overwhelmed with the outpouring of emotions from both my colleagues, and my friends - many of whom are Indigenous Australians. The pin is an appropriate way for me to subtly display where I stand, but also start a conversation about a future I hope for.... Thanks so much, Officer, for your service and for allowing us to share your story! Available for purchase via our website www.ochredawn.com.au/shop #reconciliation #unitypin #australia

23.01.2022 No handshakes or hugs at the moment due to #covid-19 but good news - Uncle Moogy Major "Moogy" Sumner teaches us another option. The Ngarrindjeri way. https://youtu.be/KtlcCPq2dVY

22.01.2022 Following extensive consultation and co-design workshops in 2019 across the South Australian Aboriginal business sector and Industry stakeholders, the Ochre Dawn team is excited to continue to be involved in the brand development of the SA Aboriginal Entrepreneur Hub. Yesterday our team, in collaboration with our deadly Aboriginal business partners at We Create Print Deliver, had the pleasure of presenting some draft concepts for the Hub’s brand to the all-Indigenous Design &... Delivery Team as well as other stakeholders and funding partners. While it is still early days in the process, we are so grateful for the encouragement and support received thus far and look forward to continuing the journey in the coming months. If you or your organisation hasn’t yet participated in the branding consultation process but would like to, please feel welcome to get in touch: AEH brand: Bec Wessels (CEO, Ochre Dawn, via [email protected]) #indigenousbusiness #indigbizmonth #reconciliation #closethegap

21.01.2022 Last week we had the absolute joy of attending this captivating event, Salt and Sand, showcasing and celebrating Jackie Saunders’ first solo art exhibition at Dentons Fisher Jeffries’ stunning foyer in Adelaide. Jackie’s humour, optimism and energy is entirely contagious. It was our pleasure and privilege to support the event via the design and print of the exhibition catalogue. 12.01.2022 WIN! #bookgiveaway Last week, on Thursday 13th February 2020, marked the 12th anniversary of former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudds historic apology in 2008 to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples removed from their families. A couple of years ago, I (Bec) had the great privilege and pleasure to meet Aboriginal illustrator and writer, Dub Leffler (Bigambul and Mandandanji) and I have since enjoyed reading some of his books with my daughter. We would like to s...hine a light on one of these books this month, in commemoration of Apology Day, and that is the award-winning "Sorry Day", illustrated by Dub and written by Coral Vass, author. Sorry Day is the Winner of the Childrens Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2019 Book of the Year Eve Pownall Award for Information Books and was also the Winner of the 2018 Speech Pathology Book of the Year Best Book for Language and Literacy Development Indigenous Children Award. Author Coral Vass wanted to give children a small understanding of the devastation and grief felt by the Indigenous children taken away from their parents. Dubs illustrations are exquisite - brilliantly capturing various scenes and emotions. The Ochre Dawn team would like to gift a copy of Sorry Day to one of our lucky online customers, so to be in the running, simply order any product/s from our website shop during the month of February and youll be in with a chance to win a copy of this very special book.
