18.01.2022 Good evening! As the number of cases of COVID-19 increases in our state, we would like our community to stay as safe as possible. As we have lifted some of our restrictions in our clinic, we have decided to re-introduce some safety measures to reduce the potential risk of any spread. - Our preferred method of consultations again will be Teleconferencing/Video calls. If you think you need to come into the clinic for a Face-to-face consultation, you will be screened, triaged ...and your hands must be sanitised. - We ask if you do come in to the clinic for a face-to-face consultation, we ask you please wait in your car, call the clinic on your arrival and our Reception team will call you when the Health professional is ready for you. This goes for GP, Practice Nurse and any Allied Health appointments. - If you have ANY respiratory symptoms ie Cough, Cold, Sore throat or high temperature, we will NOT see you in our clinic. The GP will conduct a Telephone consultation and make a decision appropriate for your healthcare. If you think you need a COVID-19 test, please see available locations here https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectio//Pages/clinics.aspx Please remember, we are trying our hardest, please don’t forget to be kind to our staff members. All the staff at Ochre Health thank you for your co-operation throughout this pandemic and we hope you remain in good health. Thanks - Andrea Hammond - Practice Manager

13.01.2022 PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT COVID-19 CASE CONFIRMED IN PORT STEPHENS Hunter New England Local Health District is urging anyone who visited the Salamander Bay Shopping... Centre on 15 July to watch for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested should any respiratory symptoms or fever occur. The warning follows confirmation of a COVID-19 case in Port Stephens area. The new case is a man in his 60s, who is now in isolation. The source of infection was a visitor from Sydney. Anyone in the general Port Stephens area with symptoms of COVID-19 should seek testing. The Sydney case also visited the Windsor Castle Hotel in East Maitland between 6-8 pm on 13 July. Anyone who visited the hotel during this timeframe, and is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, should seek testing immediately. If you were at the Windsor Castle Hotel in East Maitland on the evening of 13 July or Salamander Bay Shopping Centre on 15 July you may be at risk of infection and you must be tested for COVID-19 even if you have the mildest of respiratory symptoms, said Dr David Durrheim, Public Health Controller for Hunter New England Health’s COVID-19 response. Anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath, is urged to get tested. Even those with mild symptoms such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a new runny nose are encouraged to arrange testing, he said. Additional staff have been deployed to the nearby Tomaree Community Hospital COVID-19 clinic to increase testing capability. Please call 4964 7497 between 8am to-4pm to make an appointment, or seek a referral from your GP. COVID-19 testing is also available at Maitland Hospital walk-in clinic, between 9am-4pm, 7 days a week. Testing is also available through local GP clinics, and at a number of hospitals in the Hunter region. A full list of COVID-19 testing clinics is available here: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectio//Pages/clinics.aspx It is essential people follow directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing of 1.5 metres, cough or sneeze into their elbow, and regularly wash their hands.
13.01.2022 ** UPDATE ** As of Monday, 10th August 2020, Ochre Health are implementing a No Mask, No Consult policy. We are working hard to source supplies, Ochre Tea Gardens will ONLY supply a mask (possibly at a small price, TBC!) if you cannot get access to one before your appointment. We will be selling fabric re-usable masks (made to the standard of public health!) in clinic, if you would like to purchase one. Ochre Health ARE encouraging BYO masks please. Reasons for No Mask, No... Consult - Victoria is now in a state of Emergency as cases continue to soar. - Cases in NSW are continuing to increase each day. - Increasing evidence of aerosolized spread of COVID-19 - Increasing evidence of masks effectively decreasing the risk of transmission - Concerns that patients may be asymptomatic when screened - GP clinics attract a population with a higher risk of infection - Some difficulties maintaining social distancing ** Exemptions from wearing a face mask include if you have a Medical Condition or other conditions that impairs your ability to wear a face covering. In these instances, we would prefer a Teleconference first, or if a Face-to-face consultation is required, approval from a General Practitioner before your arrival is essential. Children under the age of 12 years old do not need to wear a face covering. Children two years or younger must not wear a face covering for risk of choking and suffocation. As cases in the Newcastle region begin to increase, our preferred method of consultation is still Teleconferencing/Video consultations. If you do require a face-to-face consultation, we ask that you remain in your vehicle, call us on your arrival, and our friendly Reception team will call you when the GP/Allied Health Professional is ready for you. PLEASE REMEMBER - you will be screened by the Reception team. It is imperative you are honest about any Respiratory/Flu like symptoms e.g. Cold, Sore Throat, High temps, Chills and Body aches, coughs and runny nose. Every time you enter our Medical Centre you will have to sanitize your hands. We will keep you up to date during the week with any changes that may occur, especially pricing of masks (if any) Thank you for your co-operation in staying COVID safe! Management.
12.01.2022 REMINDER! Our No Mask, No Consult policy begins tomorrow, Monday 10th August 2020. We would like to remind you to please wear a face mask or face covering to your Doctor/Nurse or Allied Health appointment. ... If you have not been able to obtain a mask/covering, we will supply a disposable mask at 1 mask per patient. We will also have Fabric masks for sale - depending on supply. Again, if you have a condition that prevents you from wearing a mask or covering, please phone and speak to our friendly reception staff. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation in keeping staff and our community COVID safe. Andrea Hammond - PM
