16.01.2022 The Uss Arizona Memorial which was built in 1962 straddles the the sunken wreckage of the USS Arizona. The final resting place for many of the 1177 crewmen killed on December 7, 1941, the Japanese surpise attack on Pearl Harbor. The memorial is only accessible by boat and is made up of three main parts: entry, assembly room and the shrine which bears the names of all those kill on the Arizona. It also has an opening in the floor so that visitors can pay their respects by tossing glowers in honor of the fallen sailors. This memorial is part of the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument.

12.01.2022 Harold Blair was employed at the General Fertilizer factory at 3 Mary Street and went on to become an internationally renowned opera singer. OCA now owns the fertilizer factory and has made a commemorative plaque to honor Harolds lifetime achievements at the entrance of the Warehouse. A plaque has also been placed at the Purga Aboriginal Cemetery Reserve in memory of his death on 21st May.
