22.01.2022 @otherside_co began as a one-off beer brewed for a music festival. Realising they were onto a good thing, they began gypsy brewing an expanded core range, which gained enough traction in WA to fund their own brewery in 2018, in turn allowing them to set their sights for interstate expansion. Next Wendesday, the 21st of August, Otherside joins us for Ale Stars, with four beers expertly matched with a two-course meal. Ticket link in bio.

21.01.2022 New Rosé, who dis? It’s that time of year when some cracking rosés are starting to come out of the woodwork and this is no exception. The Yokel series from @dormilonawines seeks to champion WA’s Swan Valley region with its full-flavoured and complex wines that are oft-overlooked. The 2019 Rosé is Grenache-based and is a fun little number. Bright and zippy and the newest addition to our wines by the glass. Killer.

21.01.2022 State of Brews Victoria is happening downstairs at @taphousedarlo right now and it’ll be going till next Sunday, showcasing some of the best beers from our southern cousins. Meanwhile, Odd Culture has a couple of hot picks from Vic as well, including @siteferment’s Lapin. Born out of @hopnationbeer’s love of and curiosity for mixed fermentation, it’s mouth-puckeringly sour, with a huge fruit hit from the addition of organic Lapin cherries from Victoria. So damn good.

18.01.2022 Cold day, hot af beers. Inspired by the historical export porter style, the base beer for this is described by De Ranke as undrinkably bitter. 9 months on wood adds a sourness to balance out that bitterness, resulting in a complex strong dark sour that is unlike anything else you’re likely to taste. Back to Black. It’s the Odd Culture way to get through this cold spell.

13.01.2022 Tomorrow night is our Ale Stars session with special guest Rudi Ghequire of @rodenbachbeer. We’ve got four cracking beers lined up and chef is whipping up some Belgian food to match with them. This is gonna be a good one, folks. Get excited! By the by, bottles of 2015 Vintage are available right now if you just can’t wait for that Flanders Red action. Boom.

06.01.2022 Nestled at the edge of the Baltic sea in Talinn, the snow-covered capital of Estonia is @pohjalabeer, the country's consistently highest rated beermakers. Famous for their dark beers, Põhjala (meaning "Nordic") has operated under the captaincy of ex-Brewdog head brewer Chris Pilkington for the last 7 years. As the nights grow colder in Sydney, the very first shipment of Põhjala ever to hit our shores is en route across the Baltic sea, and we are excited AF to pour some absolute world-class stouts and porters through our taps for the first time ever next Friday, the 23rd of August. Get hype.

03.01.2022 We’ve got some juicy bangers on tap right now but let’s not forget about the natty wines that evoke thoughts of fruit juice. @delinquentewineco’s Hell series of wines are fun adventures into minimal intervention. This skin contact Vermentino screams fresh pears and apples and is the latest orange addition to our by the glass list. Bangin.

02.01.2022 From AIBA champion medium brewery @greenbeacon comes Fathom, a project diving deep into the weird and wonderful world of mixed fermentation and barrel ageing. The Fathom Belgian Style Brown is barrel aged with a mixed culture then blended back with younger brown beer, and harkens back to the traditional Flanders Red and Oud Bruin styles of Belgium. Think balsamic vinegar, in the best possible way. They’ve also made a version with sour cherries added in, and we’ve currently got tins of both in our fridges. Stupid sexy Flanders.

02.01.2022 Rodenbach is singular in the beer world, dedicated to brewing only one style of beer: the Flanders Red Ale. The late beer writer Michael Jackson refers to their legendary Grand Cru as the "Burgundy of Belgium". If you know, you know. We are incredibly excited to welcome Rodenbach brewmaster Rudi Ghequire to September's Ale Stars on Friday, September 6 as he talks us through four beers, which will be expertly matched with a two-course meal. This is one that's not to be missed. Ticket link in bio.

02.01.2022 Hang tight, it’s about to get DARK. Tomorrow is Friday the 23rd of August, which means our @pohjalabeer tap showcase is finally here. We will be debuting the Estoinian brewery’s world-class stouts and porters alongside some cracking juicy tidbits. Hell yeah.

01.01.2022 State of Brews 2019 is coming up on August 1-11, with venues all around Sydney showcasing beers from Australia and around the world. @taphousedarlo will be featuring Victorian breweries and as part of that, on Tuesday the 6th of August, Odd Culture are hosting a very special night of beer, food, and banter. A 4-course meal will be matched with beer and chat with brewers from @fixationbrewing @holgatebeer @quietdeeds and more to be announced. Link in bio!
