25.01.2022 At the death of Mao Tse Tung, His Holiness the Dalai Lama spoke of his passing before a large crowd of Tibetans and he had a large religious ceremony done on Ma...os behalf. He said that now that Mao had passed away from life, he was to be viewed with compassion. In fact, when His Holiness was speaking of Maos death, there were tears in his eyes because of his great compassion for this man. He asked the Tibetan people to dedicate the virtue of their practice to Maos benefit. What had Mao done to deserve this kind of attention and compassion from His Holiness? What he had done was systematically destroy the monasteries, the statues, and the books of Dharma in Tibet. He had done his utmost to annihilate all of the representations of Buddha and Dharma in Tibet. In terms of the people of Tibet, Mao had perpetrated genocide, and tremendous suffering was inflicted fundamentally due to his policies. Not only was this suffering inflicted upon the people of Tibet, but upon the people of China as well. A tremendous amount of suffering can be traced back to Mao and his regime. When we hear about such a person or government that inflicts such great suffering, our natural response is one of anger; whereas, when His Holiness the Dalai Lama views this, he simply realizes that this was the Tibetans karma, and people who engage in such terribly detrimental actions are worthy of our compassion. When we judge people as usual, saying, Thats my enemy or this is a bad person, were constructing other people in these ways. When we conceive of others in this fashion, we reap the harvest from our own thoughts. What we send out, we receive back. Was His Holinesss response to Maos death faulty or virtuous? It was a virtuous response. When the spirit of awakening truly ripens in ones mind-stream, that is the type of response that arises a response characteristic of a true follower of the Buddha. You may think its naive, but thats how a Buddhist should respond. Gyatrul Rinpoche - Natural Liberation - Wisdom Publications

23.01.2022 294 days, thats how long Ive been waiting. 294 days is how long Ive been dreaming, hoping and wishing to be chosen. But everyday I get left behind, wonderin...g why nobody wants me. During the Clear the Shelter promotion last month, I woke up excited every morning, thinking with this many people, surely my perfect match would be amongst them! Although it wasnt to be. But Im a battler, and battlers dont give up! Ive had a pretty rough start to life, living it tough on my own on the streets. It was the luckiest day of my life when I got brought to RSPCA Burwood East, but I know the day I go to my forever home will be even better! Im a sweet, charismatic, and gentle guy who just loves to be in the company of people. Sometimes I get a little stressed and sad here, but as soon as I have someone to sit with, all's right with the world. I gobble up my food straight away and always come out for head scratches. I think I would be best in a home without other pets or little kids, so I can have a gentle and calm home after so much uncertainty. Im ready to break this waiting streak, ready to take on my next adventure. Surely theres someone out there looking for me? - Andy, 5 years old, 294 days at RSPCA Burwood East. Until April 15, Andy will be NO FEE to adopt! Weve removed the adoption fee for all cats over 4 months, and halved kitten fees.. Visit us to adopt your pawfect match.

22.01.2022 "Since Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö was the very manifestation of pure compassion, his activities were beyond the comprehension of ordinary beings. From a ...very young age he taught philosophical texts and flawlessly performed the activities of a vajra master. Like his predecessors, his sole intention was to benefit the teachings and beings, and so during the process of accumulating the treasure of understanding sacred texts through intensive study or attaining realization through intensive meditation practice, he never became bored, nor did these activities either depress or satisfy him. In all his everyday activities, as his more practical projects created opportunities for everyone, both noble and ordinary, also to practice the Dharma, one of the side effects was that not only did the teachings flourish, but they became even more secure. He introduced a system for spreading and propagating the authentic teachings by building countless representations of body, speech, and mind, and established numerous exceptional study and practice centers, both as fields of merit and to ensure the continuity of teachings. Since he had realized the illusory nature of phenomena, however difficult his activities to benefit the teachings may have appeared to be, he said nothing, neither complaining nor expressing the slightest sign of weariness or exhaustion. Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö lived as a hidden yogi throughout his life, but having strengthened his inner wisdom, the fame of his sublime qualities spread throughout the land, and noble masters from all traditions bowed before his lotus feet and spoke of him with great admiration. Although his visionary experiences were unmistakable sings of realization, he chose not to reveal them. Instead, he steadfastly concealed his secret qualities, always behaving as though there were nothing special about him at all. Although he was held in the highest esteem by all those who governed the country, both high and low, he cared nothing for the eight worldly preoccupations and, for the most part, led the life of one who had renounced worldly pursuits. Having fully realized the view of emptiness, he sometimes acted spontaneously, and was always able to accomplish, without obstacle, all the wonderful activities, great and small, that were difficult for ordinary beings to comprehend. With great compassion and perfect timing, in order to plant the seed of enlightenment in the minds of inconceivable numbers of beings, he traveled a great deal, from Kham to India and Nepal, so that as many people as possible had the opportunity to see the mandala of his body. Born from vast accumulations of merit and wisdom. With nectar like speech, he gave each student the teachings they needed, embracing them all within the expanse of his nonconceptual mind. This is how he was able to accomplish all his activities. Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche - The Life and Times of Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö The Great Biography pp 168-69, Snow Lion Publications

20.01.2022 To end suffering - not only by relieving its symptoms but by eradicating its root cause - is precisely the aim of the Buddha's teaching. We must first realize t...hat the true cause of suffering is not outside, but inside. That is why true spiritual practice consists of working on one's own mind. The mind is very powerful. It can create happiness or suffering, heaven or hell. If, with the help of the Dharma, you manage to eliminate your inner poisons, nothing from outside will ever affect your happiness, but as long as those poisons remain in your mind, you will not find the happiness you seek anywhere in the world. ~ Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche

16.01.2022 Read carefully, what Guru Rinpoche said about the seven line prayer composed by him. Recite to connect with the teacher. The Seven Line Prayer ... Accomplishing the Lama through the Seven Line Prayer: A Special Teaching from the Lama Sangdü The terma revelation of Guru Chöwang Homage to the yidam deity! Fortunate men and women of the future, sons and daughters of an enlightened family, when you turn to me, the Guru of Orgyen, for refuge, take yourself to an isolated place, and make deep feelings arise of melancholy at impermanence, and disgust with sasrathis is vital. Then rely on me completely, heart and soul. Reflect how every kind of refuge, all your hopes, are all fulfilled and complete within me, the Guru of Orgyen. Whether in happiness or in sorrow, have total trust and confidence in me. No need to make offerings or praise; set aside all accumulating; simply let devotion flood your body, speech and mind, and pray, pray with these seven lines: hung, orgyen yul gyi nubjang tsam H! Create a feeling of yearning and longing so intense that tears spring from your eyes. If the rapture of devotion overwhelms you, breathe out strongly, and then leave everything as it is. Clear and awake, focused and undistracted, look within. For children of mine who pray like this, it goes without saying that they will have my protection, for they will be the sons and daughters of the buddhas of past, present and future. They will receive complete empowerment into the awareness of their own enlightened mind. Their samdhi will be so powerful and stable, that wisdom will naturally blossom and expand. This great blessing, which arises of its own accord, will dispel all the suffering that will ripen on you, or be experienced by others. When your mind is transformed, others perceptions will simultaneously change, you will accomplish enlightened activity, and all noble qualities will be complete within you. May the sons and daughters of my heart meet with this extraordinary skilful means, one which ripens and liberates into the dharmakya realization of my enlightened being. A practice with a uniquely powerful blessing, the Seven Line Prayer is exceptionally profound; so let this instruction be an extremely secret treasure of my enlightened mind. May it meet with one who possesses a mind of wisdom, and is endowed with great compassion, called Chökyi Wangchuk.

13.01.2022 This can feel like a terrifying time to live in this world. A few power-drunk men and women are pointing devastating weaponry at each other on behalf of the human race and it is like placing the entire history of human civilisation on the table in a poker game whilst we standing on the sidelines can only watch as the cards fall and the fate of our friends, families, children and pets is decided. Of course as the terrified citizens, the reasonable (and expected) response is fo...Continue reading

11.01.2022 Patrul Rinpoche; Mantraya practitioners he warned: "Some practitioners, though they have studied and understood a bit about emptiness, and they have visualized ...a deity and recited its mantras for many months and years, may take rebirth as harmful spirits because they deviate from the teachings and fall under the spell of malicious intent. However, practitioners whose main practice is compassion will never run those risks." Enlightened Vagabond - Matthieu Ricard - Shambhala Publications

11.01.2022 Many of us lead family lives. At most, the members of a family stay together for the duration of a single lifetime, often much less. While that fleeting moment ...of being together still lasts, we should try to remain in perfect harmony with each other, while observing the Dharma as much as possible. Night and day, let us turn our minds toward goodness, love, and compassion. Doing a single prostration, saying a simple prayer, contemplating the nature of the mind for an instant are seeds that lead to enlightenment. To be united in this life as man and wife, parent and children, is the result of our past actions, of a shared karma. That is why we should at all costs avoid quarelling and live in harmony. ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

08.01.2022 This world can't be real. There is nothing real about it. Look around you at the utter lunacy and dreamlike psychosis of this bewildering, nightmare wonderland. Normality is a construct. There is not one drop of normality in this world. Only mind could create such sheer mind bending fantasy and then brazenly try and convince us of it's normality

07.01.2022 "When you are watching a film, people in it appear to be really fighting battles, loving each other, and so forth, but none of these things are actually happeni...ng. It is all just fantasy. Try to see all your joys and sorrows as if you were watching a movie, letting go of the idea that you have to strive hard to avoid whatever is difficult or unpleasant. This will make your happiness indestructible." - Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche -

07.01.2022 The body contains channels and the mind is associated with the energies that flow through the channels. When the impure karmic energy associated with the delud...ed mind flows through impure channels, it gives rise to the three poisons attachment, aversion, and bewilderment. If the karmic energy that creates these three poisons is purified, this allows the wisdom energy to arise. And when ones channels, energies, and essence become wisdom channels, wisdom energy, and wisdom essence, one obtains supreme concentration, perfect recollection, and confidence. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (Zurchungpa's Testament on Wisdom Collected Works, Vol III pg 297 Shambala)

02.01.2022 In our delusion, we see things as being permanent and inherently existing. But in reality phenomena are impermanent, and devoid of any inherent existence. We wa...nt to believe that our friends, partner, wealth and influence will all endure, but by nature they are bound to change. It is therefore senseless to be so preoccupied with them. ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
