This means Colac Myotherapy will be resuming practice after the Easter break. 22.01.2022 Were very happy to say we are now stockists of the very cool Wili Heat Bags, a relatively new company out of Adelaide, SA. 22.01.2022 Did you know that we utilise dry needling techniques within our clinic? Matt has been practising dry needling for over 4 years and recently enhanced his needling skills further at a recent DN seminar in Sydney. * So what is dry needling (and does it hurt )? *... Dry needling is an extremely effective technique used to relax overactive muscles which contain trigger points. These trigger points induce pain both locally to the muscle and further away, whilst also reducing the muscles ability to function correctly and to its capacity. During the needling process, the needle is inserted into the active trigger point to stimulate a twitch response within the muscle, which is key to getting the muscle to relax. In lay terms, instead of digging our fingers into tight muscles were using a fine needle to achieve the same (and at times better) results. And, as for the pain - Needling can often feel uncomfortable when were working on very stubborn and tight regions, however rest assured that the pain is only temporary and with some luck the results are much longer lasting. So if your suffering from back/hip pain, recent muscle tear or strain, ankle sprain, rotator cuff injury, tennis elbow or muscle spasm/tension then book in to see Matt and experience the effectiveness of dry needling for yourself

21.01.2022 Weve got some very exciting news to share! From next Thursday the 16th of Jan we will be welcoming Monique Booth into the clinic as a Myotherapist. Here is a little about Mon,... Monique Booth is a practicing Myotherapist, who has worked in Geelong and along the Surf Coast and the Bellarine Peninsula for more than nine years. Monique studied at RMIT University and achieved her Diploma in Remedial Massage, followed by an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy in 2010. Moniques treatment takes on a holistic approach towards soft tissue structures of the human body. She covers a broad range of clients across all ages, including full-time desk-workers with postural strain, headaches/migraines, and low back pain, as well as recreational and professional athletes with muscle tightness and nagging sports injuries. Monique is able to provide soft to deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, dry needling, mobilisation and a range of advice to help keep her clients keep active. Monique has been heavily involved in sport, with a background in netball, snowboarding, swimming and competitive athletics; specifically sprinting and hurdling. Through all of this, she has experienced first hand the positive impact myotherapy treatment has on achieving pain relief, reducing recovery times and aiding rehabilitation and the prevention of injuries. Monique has worked as a myotherapist with the Geelong Football Club for the last six years. She worked closely with the medical team assisting with treatment and management of the players, and has also spent time in similar roles at local Torquay and Grovedale Football Netball clubs. Practicing what she preaches, Monique stays active, healthy and happy by consistently exercising, eating well and maintaining a good life balance. 19.01.2022 ** MYOTHERAPY UPDATE ** Our myotherapist Monique has received some news advising all myotherapists to cease practice immediately. If you have an appointment booked in with Mon shell be in touch with you ASAP to cancel.... Whilst it is unfortunate that Mon cannot continue to provide outstanding care to her clients locally in the short term, it is essential that we respect the decisions of the governing bodies & continue to place the health & wellbeing of our clients and ourselves first. We will provide information through our FB page as the landscape improves & Mon is able to take bookings & recommence practice. Chiropractic is still considered an essential practice and as such will continue on as usual. We hope that everybody stays safe and healthy in this challenging time.

18.01.2022 COVID UPDATE We have made the decision to close our practice until Monday 27th July. We are in the process of rescheduling our Thursday patients & will be in contact with those booked in Friday tomorrow morning.... Our myotherapist Monique has also rescheduled her clients for this week and is hoping to resume from next Tuesday. This is a difficult decision but one which we feel is necessary given the current situation our community is in. We are hoping for some stability in numbers over the coming days which will provide some more confidence going forward from Monday We thank our patients for being so understanding in this difficult time. We are currently operating as per normal hours. ... As you can appreciate we are in unprecedented circumstances and so it is extremely hard to forecast if or when we may be required to close our doors for a period of time or change procedures. As recommendations are made to us from the health department and our governing bodies regarding operation we will notify our clients promptly. For those that do have an upcoming appointment with us and are experiencing cold/flu like symptoms after having travelled overseas recently, or following direct contact with a person recently diagnosed with COVID-19 we would greatly appreciate a phone call so that we may assist you in rescheduling your appointment.
