25.01.2022 | LOUD SHIRT DAY | Last Friday we celebrated Loud Shirt Day at Officer Childcare Centre! Thank you to all of the children that came dressed in their best loud shirts and donated. The funds that we raised went towards the gift of sound & speech to deaf children

21.01.2022 Today children from our Orange & Blue rooms participated in a modified cooking experience! Our centre cook, Jess, showed the children how she makes the apple cake we had for afternoon tea, answering questions the children had & asking questions about measurements & ingredients!

16.01.2022 | BREAD TAGS FOR WHEELCHAIRS | Just a reminder that we are still collecting bread tags! Once this box has been filled they will be donated to the organisation ‘bread tags for wheelchairs ‘ to then be recycled to fund wheelchairs for the needy in South Africa. ... So keep saving those bread tags and dropping them in the box provided at reception!

13.01.2022 Sleeping outdoors Today the green and yellow room children used the beautiful sunshine as the perfect excuse to sleep outside! The benefits of outdoor naps for children:... Natural light exposure This resets the body clock and adjusts with circadian rhythms, and you produce more melatonin for a more restful sleep, unlike artificial light which interferes with sleep quality. Increased immunity Plants give off phytoncides to protect themselves which humans can benefit from for lower blood pressure and other health boosters. Better functioning of body and brain Higher quality oxygen will improve functioning of the brain and body for better productivity, mobility, recovery and more. Being outside allows children to express themselves freely, children can jump, shout, run, and explore to their hearts content.
