23.01.2022 This little restaurant was nearly empty, so we sat right up the front, overlooking the caldera (Santorini is actually the edge of a ancient volcano that erupted, and the caldera is the bit that filled with water - hard to explain, but beautiful to see).

23.01.2022 Too much fun! I love Shakespeare at the best of times, but 12th Night is comedy at its most fabulous! Now playing at the Botanic Gardens (enter just opposite the Shrine), this is the perfect night out in Melbourne.... We packed a picnic, hired some chairs and laughed out loud. Get along.....check Australian Shakespeare Company website for show times and bookings.

22.01.2022 Love sees NO colour. I photographed this most innocent of moments a few years ago in a remote community in the Northern Territory. I wish more people could be like this.

22.01.2022 It's ages since I've posted a pic...I've been working on a major exhibition (and publication), and will share more about it soon. In the mean while, this beautiful landscape in around Lhasa, Tibet. It's a magnificent place, with warm and friendly locals. It's high on my list of places to head back to (when we're finally allowed to travel again!).... Hopefully, you're all keeping well and distanced

22.01.2022 RIP Astrid Kirchherr. Best known for her photos of the very early days of the Beatles, in Hamburg. There are many photographers from which I have learned, but few have created images that make me want to stare in to them for hours. Her self-portrait was such a sign of the times, and remains timeless to me. Thanks for the inspiration Astrid.

22.01.2022 It's such a long time since I've been to Vietnam! Good food, bright colours everywhere and super friendly people. If you haven't been, I can highly recommend it (a quick trip out of Melbourne's Winter????)

21.01.2022 By the end of this week, Melbourne is going to hit temperatures nearing 40c. We're all needing to dig out the summer hats (like the ones from this quaint shop in Santorini), slap on the sunscreen and slip on the protective clothing. Start preparing your gardens now folks....my tomato plants are already smiling, in anticipation!

21.01.2022 One thing visitors to Greece always comment on is the amount of cats! Even though they're not officially 'pets', they never look malnourished....the locals take care of them. These cuties left me wondering if they were saying "Let me in" or "Let me out"?? Do YOU have a clever caption I could add to the pic please?

20.01.2022 These young soldiers were marching where their ancestors would have served thousands of years ago. I'm guessing that the uniform is slightly more practical now though!

20.01.2022 A perfect Mykonos sunset! Thanks to Megan Castran for the location suggestion!

20.01.2022 Things are tough out there. That's an understatement. But if you're part of the entertainment industry, bookings are drying up fast. For all my friends in the arts/entertainment, I'm feeling it with you (not much work for theatre photographers right now ) ...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Feeling a bit jet-lagged after flying in from Sacramento this morning! Most Californians I know have never visited their state capital, but I can tell them (and you) that this is so much more than a bureaucratic town! It's known as the City of Trees and the home of Farm to Plate. Stay watching for more photos over the coming days.... This gorgeous building, by the way, is the Capitol building - with glorious public gardens all around it! Sacramento, California Aida Osta Hall California

19.01.2022 Knox Art Show is one of the oldest, most prestigious shows in the country. For the second year running, I am humbled and honoured to have been awarded First Prize in the photography section. My offering is entitled "I have everything I need," and was shot during Eid in Old Delhi, India. Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Bayswater for taking the lead and holding a virtual competition. There are lots of beautiful artworks available for purchase... Simply pop online and start browsing. Rotary Club of Bayswater Knox Arts and Events

19.01.2022 Little Venice, on the island of Mykonos, is a charming slice of Mediterranean life. Check back over the next few days as I post more photos from this magnificent part of the world.

18.01.2022 When it's hot and you're thinking of having a quiet drink, then Raki is what most visitors turn to in Santorini! Yuk! I'm not a stick-in-the-mud, but give me a refreshing tonic and lime any day, to quench that thirst! Having said that, this sign and the bright blooms are enough to make me smile....no grog needed :-)

18.01.2022 Being a bit of a grey start in Melbourne today, I thought I'd brighten it up with a bit of Santorini sunshine for you all! Happy Tuesday

17.01.2022 To photograph 5 of Australia's most accomplished leading ladies is a real treat! Mother's Day was made even more special for everyone watching the live stream of 'Here's to the Ladies' from Memo Music Hall. Talented director Tyran Parke and sublimely wonderful musical director Stephen Gray brought us an intimate show filled with laughter, tears, and genuine warmth.... Congratulations to Rhonda Burchmore, Alinta Chidzey, Lucy Durack, Amanda Harrison and Queenie van de Zandt. It was so eerie to not have an audience present, but these gals proved 'The show must go on'! More photos to come. (Stay tuned for some exciting news over the next few weeks)

17.01.2022 Love photographing this guy!!! My dear old friend Tony Hadley - formerly the front man of Spandau Ballet - rocked the house in Melbourne last night. The place went crazy as he charmed every last fan!... Tone...Not only have you still 'got it', that voice and stage presence are better than ever. Looking forward to your next visit already. Cheers! 15.01.2022 Very few things are a greater indicator that you're in the Greek islands than the pristine blue and white painted churches. What a gorgeous contrast with the red cliffs of Santorini.

14.01.2022 There's a hidden little secret in Athens! Sitting right under the Acropolis, 'Anafiotika' consists of only a few pathways and the oldest homes in the city. Reminiscent of exotic Greek Islands rather than a thriving metropolis, the area is perfect for spending an hour or so with a camera. It's quiet and charming - allow yourself to wander and get lost! ... Have you got a favourite 'hidden' gem somewhere in the world? I'd love to know about it please

14.01.2022 No matter from which angle you view it, nor the time of day, the Acropolis is always dominant - Standing proudly above Athens, as it has done, for over 2000 years.

14.01.2022 We always try to go where the locals go, just to get a glimpse of their way of life. At the central market in Athens, there were sections for meat, for seafood, and lots and lots of olives!!! Where's your favourite market in the world? I'd love to add more to my travel bucket list.

13.01.2022 This morning I awoke to the shocking and tragic news of the death of Kobe Bryant in a helicopter accident. Exactly 5 years ago, January 2015, I was lucky enough to see him in action at the Staples Centre. He was just back from injury, and played a brilliant game against the Indiana Pacers.... These shots that I took show a bit of what he could do.....Have a close look at the 'slam' - the reaction on the faces in the crowd (I love the little girl in sparkles - you might need to 'click' on the image to see the full frame) RIP Kobe - You were a true champion.

13.01.2022 I love the innocence of kids. They haven't yet had the opportunity to adopt the biases of the wider community. This is the second photo from a trip up to the NT a couple of years ago (first was posted yesterday, in case you missed it).

13.01.2022 Mykonos is famous for these historic windmills. People flock to them in droves, especially around sunset.

12.01.2022 Thanks for all your fabulous guesses about yesterday's fun photo! Well done to those who guessed it might be something to do with hair......Well, not anyone's REAL hair, but a wig from ancient Egypt! How glad are we that this is no longer a trend?! ... It looks awfully itchy! See more

12.01.2022 Last night I had the absolute pleasure of seeing "Come from Away" at the Comedy Theatre. Strange name - amazing show. What's it about? It's the untold story of what happened to the thousands of people who couldn't land in NYC on 9/11.... Actually, I'm not going to tell you any more.....Just see it! This is moving, very funny, very poignant and good for almost any age group. Sensationally cast, expertly performed - this is now right up there as one of my all time favourite shows. Not in to musicals? Don't worry, you're going to love this. TRUST ME....It didn't win just about every major theatre award and have sold out houses in NYC for 2.5 years for nothing. Come From Away Australia Comedy Theatre Rodney Rigby Martin Croft

10.01.2022 Only 4 shows left Chapel Off Chapel - EVERYTHING'S COMING UP SONDHEIM. A fabulous 'hit parade' of all our favourite tunes from some of the greatest musicals ever. Funny, clever, poignant and a great night out. 2 shows today, 2 shows tomorrow, then it's gone. Don't miss it.... Sensational cast, superbly directed by Tyran Parke, and a brilliant trio of talented muso's. Book now to see the insanely talented group that is Caitlin Spears Genevieve Kingsford Embla Bishop Sally Bourne Phillip Lowe Alex Gibson-Giorgio Kerrie Anne Greenland Cameron Stretch Cunningclam Taylor-Millar

08.01.2022 Another photo of our glorious city! Undeniably one of the nicest skylines in the world.

08.01.2022 Thanks for all the lovely messages of congratulations on my 5 x First Prize (and Best Photograph 2019) yesterday. As promised, here is one of the winning pics. I took this in Tibet (a place which is so overwhelmingly beautiful). It's the sun rising over a lake at approximately 6000 metres!

08.01.2022 This year has been filled with bucket-list travel. From Cuba, to New York and even finally seeing the pyramids. One trip we took was to Athens and a couple of Greek Islands. This is the first image, from a series, that I'll share with you.... It was taken just after sunrise, as the flag was hoisted (by soldiers) at the Acropolis on a gorgeous Athenian morning. I'd love to hear you thoughts and memories of Athens.

06.01.2022 Fish, frappe and friends! Another typical day for this fish seller in Fira, Santorini.

06.01.2022 It's here!!!! "The Show Must Go On; What the Performing Arts were doing when they weren't doing what we know they do" is the celebration of an industry whose people are as resilient as they are creative, and there are so many silver linings. Beside each carefully crafted environmental portrait that I took during lockdown, the subject of the portrait (there are 72 Performing Arts professionals included) has written what they were thinking/feeling during lockdown.... If you'd like to order your very own copy of this limited edition book, see the link below. There's currently a special offer (ending very soon) of free postage within Australia (saving you $16!). Go to www.heidivictoria.com.au to order your SIGNED copy. (and please SHARE this post if you know someone who might like a copy of it for themselves or a friend).

04.01.2022 Fair Oaks, a part of Sacramento, California, is famous for its free roaming roosters! This guy was just watching me, watching him! I think the caption should be "Does my butt look big in this?" ... Can you come up with a better one? I'd love to hear your suggestions. Sacramento, California Fairoaks, California Aida Osta Hall

03.01.2022 Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? This little Athenian kitty is a gal after my own heart... There's ALWAYS something I would like in a hand-made jewellery store. (A tip for those of you in Melbourne, Craft Victoria is having their Shopping Soiree on Dec 5 and 12 - everything is hand-made and gorgeous! Look them up and call them for more details). @craftvic

02.01.2022 When I saw this house, I just wanted to grab a good book and and sit for a few hours! A bit of Homer (not Simpson!), Euripides or maybe Zorba the Greek. I'm sure I would have only lasted a few pages before drifting off to blissful sleep.

02.01.2022 On such a glorious day in Melbourne, I thought I'd share photos from another gorgeous part of the world! Yes, it's the Greek Islands - Can you guess which one? More to come over the next few days........

01.01.2022 Greece is famous for the amount of cats that seem to just happily roam around the streets. The locals look after them, as you can see by this pile of uneaten food. Obviously, this pretty kitty is already very content!
