19.01.2022 Success! Tonight was the Scouts 4th attempt at constructing a cube. It became a challenge that they set themselves after their first attempt last year. No it's not a perfect cube, but that's not the point. Their aim was to build a cube and that's exactly what they did. They planned it, did it and reviewed what they did. In Josh's words "Team work made the dream work" lol. And he's right! Not only was the teamwork excellent but so was the leadership, discussions and it was evident that they remembered what they were taught when it comes to knots and lashings. Great work!

14.01.2022 What a weekend! 7 Cubs, 5 Scouts, 1 Venturer, 3 Leaders and an Adult Helper spent two awesome days at Myuna Bay Scout camp at our Uncamp. Over two days the youth did different activities in Patrols and individually. The activities were; - Constructing Patrol teepees using bamboo, rope and material strips.... - Collecting kindling, constructing teepee fires, knowing what the fire triangle is, fire safety and each lighting a match to light their fires. Each Patrol used the same resources but all their fires were set up differently. Only one took hold and burned well so the other Patrols rebuilt their fires with success. - Individually they used a compass, 3 tent pegs, coloured wool and they followed bearings to create a triangle. Those that knew how to use a compass taught those that didn't. Then in Patrols they set off in the bush with all new bearings to follow. - They made 2.2 metre long quick deploy paracord bracelets. - They created a camp menu and listed what personal gear they need for a camp. - Set up hike tents, checked them and packed them away. - In the bush using a tarp, 4 tent pegs and whatever ropes they wanted they each built their own shelter. On day one we Invested 2 Cubs (William and Nash) and 1 Scout (Max). Being World Scout Day we also re-affirmed the Scout Promise. On day two we sent Jian up from Cubs to Scouts via a rope which she followed while blindfolded. It was a brilliant weekend weather wise and the youth were absolutely amazing! They have already decided what they want to do at the next camp/uncamp. Thanks for a great weekend everyone YIS 'Akela Rikki'.
12.01.2022 Great night at Scouts. They were told to bring a handsaw and a hammer and then I gave them instructions. They each had 3 pieces of a laminated sheet with 'something' on it so they had to mark their piece of timber and work together to cut it to the needed lengths. They sanded the ends then had to gently, the hardest bit lol, hammer in drawing pins. They had a great time and no first aid or paperwork was needed ... And even better they STILL have no idea what they've made and they won't know until the Into The Out Now Uncamp on the weekend One of our ex Venturers came in and picked up some samples of the rope we have as in a few weeks he's going to teach the Scouts, and me, how to splice rope and something else very cool. Thanks Aaron, looking forward to it!
09.01.2022 Tonight's Cub program was all Taj's. He planned a games night but not just any games. He put in a lot of thought about physical distancing and not sharing equipment. He also knew the rules, explained them very well and knows how to get the Cubs attention. Great job Taj! During our lockdown two of the Cubs designed games.... Nash's is a card game for three players called 'Winner Winner Chicken Dinner'. He came up with the idea, designed the cards and hand wrote them. Can't wait to have a game! Fantastic imagination Nash! Well done. Daniel's game is 'Cub Monopoly'. He designed the rules, board, chance cards etc and even the box! The tokens are the food collectables from woolies etc. He has Australian game money and he drew everything himself including the Australian Scout Logo. Brilliant game Daniel and well thought out! Bring on the Uncamp this weekend

06.01.2022 Jake had planned a hike for tonight but the weather had other ideas. It still surprises me that 7 Scouts can find places to hide in the Scout hall to play their version of murder in the dark. Farting does give you away lol. We welcomed Kayla tonight. Yes they're always like that Loud, funny and nuts! They were happy to finally get to play hubcap hockey. Tonight Josh was made a Patrol Leader. He's shown great leadership, leads by good example, Jake says he can control a c...rowd, he's helpful and the other Scouts look up to him. Well done Josh and well deserved. BRAVOOO BRAVO! See more
