19.01.2022 As you know I recently performed in the newly and beautifully redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre in Adelaide. A wall of bricks signed by various performers from numerous shows that played in the theatre over the years has been preserved and encased in glass. I found one I had signed during our run of the original ‘Frank The Sinatra Story in Song’ in 1998, reviving some great memories. My wife Mandy and our friend Keith Hawley had co-choreographed and danced in the show from ...its beginning. After our Sydney season Mandy fell pregnant with our first child. She asked her dear friend Leanne Mauchlan to take her place in the show. The photos of Mandy and me were from the Herald Sun in Melbourne and TV Week. The shot of Leanne, Keith and I was from The Sunday Mail in Adelaide. That first child, our beautiful Mia, is now 21 years of age. I must acknowledge I guess that 22 years after creating ‘Frank’ I’m still expressing variations of the theme!
18.01.2022 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Well folks my new CD has finally arrived and will be available for the first time at this Friday’s show of ‘Swingin’ the Great Standards’ at The Palms at Crown Melbourne as well as at the show at the Crown Theatre Perth on the 13 March. The CD is a live recording of my new intimate show Latin Serenity which I will be performing at Wollongong Town Hall, the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub and the Glen Street Theatre. 09.01.2022 I feel glad, fortunate and grateful that we were able to do two successful performances of my show ‘Swingin’ the Great Standards’ with a 20-piece orchestra in Adelaide last weekend. The recently redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre was the venue. We had some restrictions due to Covid-19, such as a maximum of 50% of the theatre’s capacity, no Interval, no mingling in the foyer, no bar open, no meet and greet afterwards. But we played to two very receptive and enthusiastic audie...nces and on the Saturday night we were thrilled to receive a standing ovation at the end. Having been unable to work since March it was wonderful to be able to perform again. The Adelaide musicians did a terrific job and all staff members at the theatre were very accommodating and proficient. Here is a video snippet of Rodgers and Hart’s ‘I Could Write a Book’ shot by a friend in the audience just to give you a bit of an idea of how it looked and sounded (from a distance!). Many thanks to @Adelaide Festival Centre for a memorable experience in these still troubled times. Hopefully there will be more opportunities for many others in many venues in the near future. I am not engaged in public life at this time due to personal circumstances and the current collapsed state of the industry in which I have been professionally involved for more than 43 years. However, as a private person I support the positions of the Australian Brumby Alliance and the Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria who have pledged their support to retaining sustainable brumby numbers in the Alpine National Park.

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, While I was happy and fortunate to have been able to perform ‘Swingin’ the Great Standards’ at the Crown Theatre in Perth last Friday (before the ban took effect) and ‘Latin Serenity’ at the Wollongong Town Hall on Monday morning to a lovely audience of less than 500 older folk, like everyone else all my booked gigs have now been postponed or cancelled. Over this time I thought I’d post some samples of songs from my latest album, as well as some flashbacks, as th...ere won’t be anything live happening for a while. This is a sample of a live recording of the Bossa Nova standard ‘Dindi’ by Antonio Carlos Jobim. On Guitar, Jim Pennell; Flute, Graham Jesse; Percussion, Jess Ciampa and Double Bass, Ashley Turner. 01.01.2022 Here is a shot from our sell out show at Lizotte's Newcastle last Saturday night. With Dale Genner on Keyboard, Natalie Risby on Double Bass, Mitch Farmer on Drums, Graham Jesse on Tenor Sax, Mark Taylor on Alto Sax, Mark Barnsley (hidden) on Trombone and Band Leader Ralph Pyl on Trumpet. The audience definitely seemed to have a great time and we did too! All so happy to be able to perform again.
