22.01.2022 Great news Do you remember when we introduced you to Zero, South Australia's first Canine Court Companion? New legislation to be introduced today will a...llow Zero, a court companion dog, to enter courtrooms and accompany vulnerable witnesses. In 2018, the specifically trained black labrador started work in the Adelaide court system by providing comfort to witnesses who feel anxious & need comfort. The successful trial will now mean Zero will continue to accompany children and adolescent witnesses, many of which have been victims of sexual assaults and domestic violence : @VickieChapmanMP via Twitter

18.01.2022 Hi all. Please take a look and provide feedback if possible Thanks

18.01.2022 So I posted a question regarding PTSD service dogs about 12 different PTSD pages with just over 9000 views and over 450 comments. The one thing that I have found really interesting is the levels of training, the different abilities of dogs and the standards of what is expected. Some people have self trained, other have trained through companies or charities, some have had no training and the feedback regarding training plans was very varied from intensive to non existent ...Some people have mocked PTSD service dogs as not being real service dogs and other think they are untrained pets however on the other hand some handlers feel that their dog has saved their life and make the everyday tasks bearable whilst adding purpose and joy into their lives. There appears to be no set standard within PTSD assistance dogs (beyond the PAT test) at an official recognised level of ability. Whilst I appreciate the differences between assistance dogs and companion dogs it makes me wonder what an international standard would look like delivered by a recognised organisation and testing board? My opinion (and this is only my personal opinion) would be to have a PTSD registered as an assistance dog, with all the rights of lets say a guide dog for the blind, the dog and handler must reach a certain level within an internationally standard, that way there can be better regulation and governing of the dogs and handlers? What are your thoughts??

18.01.2022 Take a look at Wally's Chinwag he makes a lot on sense!!

17.01.2022 So has anyone got through the journey of PTSD and been able to manage it and get it under control? What follow ups have you needed? Do you still require psyc or counselling sessions? Do you still need peer support, are you self managing? Or have you managed to get it under control and walk away from PTSD cured. ... Please comment - no judgement - no negative feedback just honest replies please!

17.01.2022 Just been to our local swimming club @marionswimmingclub with my daughter, and seen this sign! Interesting and accurate!

13.01.2022 When you're lost in the woods, it sometimes takes you a while to realize that you are lost. For the longest time, you can convince yourself that you've just wandered off the path, that you'll find your way back to the trail any moment now. Then night falls again and again, and you still have no idea where you are, and it's time to admit that you have bewildered yourself so far off the path that you don't even know from which direction the sun rises anymore.... This gives you choices, decisions to be made. For some a helping hand will guide you back to the well trodden path. For others you make the most of being lost, create an adventure restart in the new setting and keep the old familiar as a distant memory. And for others you can keep trying to find the way back alone. Whichever path you take, make sure you keep moving forward. It doesn’t matter if it takes you back to the old well trodden clearing, or somewhere even better and more exciting. It’s important that you keep moving forward!

11.01.2022 So Im after some advice! I have been asked to attend a school assembly at my Childrens Primary school and take LuLu my assistance dog with me, to chat to the kids about what is an assistance dog and what do they do. 09.01.2022 Big day today for LuLu. She got her new Integra Service Dogs Australia vest we celebrated the moment with a trip to Bracegirdle's who have always been supportive of PTSD service dogs!

09.01.2022 Im interested in peoples opinions and thoughts on PTSD service dogs, and I mean fully and properly trained service dogs, not companion dogs. Do you have any lived experience with them? Have you ever looked into having one? If you have one how have they helped or not helped? What are the pitfalls? ... What are the positives? What are the negatives? I am happy for an open discussion on them so feel free to post both positive and negative comments (nothing offensive though) Thanks

08.01.2022 Hey all. I have an amazing opportunity for South Australian based first responders or military personnel (former and serving) for a night away from it all and a little Rest and Recuperation! No pressure, no expectations, do as much or as little as you want. (There will be plenty of bush activities and a couple of great Counsellors and Peer support guys there who are lived experience PTSD if you need or want a chat) ... Take some time to be with friends that have been there or done that around the camp fire for a night. The cost is $100 for the night, which will include all food (evening meal, supper and brekkie, cooked by an incredible chef and butcher) Billie tea on the go throughout the stay and swags for the night (just bring a sleeping bag) Its a chance to get away from it all in a great bush location for the night around a roaring camp fire. It will be on the last saturday in October and spaces will be limited, so please message OFFRAMP if your interested. Thanks so much and speak soon

06.01.2022 Mark served in the Australian Defence Force for an impressive 20 years in the medical corps. Since then has had to face another challenge managing his PTSD. T...o help in managing his PTSD, Mark applied for Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs' Psychiatric Assistance Dog Program and hes recently welcomed assistance dog Murphy into his life. When I first saw Murphy my heart melted, he instantly came up to me and interacted with me. He was gentle and immediately reacted to the affection I showed him, Mark shared. Training with Murphy has been absolutely fantastic. The guidance from my Smart Pups Assistance Dogs Trainer Dayle was easy to understand and implement and the great thing is, help is only one phone call away. The process with DVA has been fantastic from beginning to end, I will never forget the day Murphy appeared on my door step. The experience was exciting. We already know that assistance dogs bring a special type of joy to their owners and we have seen through our program that they can be a major asset in supporting veterans to manage their PTSD, alongside their management plan. For me an assistance dog has been a life changing event. My confidence is improving and I am able to manage my anxiety better at times. Murphy has helped me transition back into the community and has reduced my self-isolation, Mark said. Veterans who are thinking about applying for the program should stop thinking about it and talk with DVA now. The unconditional love and companionship an assistance dog gives cannot be found in any other therapy. The single biggest change Murphy has had on me is allowing me to say, I have PTSD but I will be ok. Thank you for your service Mark. #TYFYS #OurVeterans For more information on the Federal Governments Psychiatric Assistance Dog program, visit www.dva.gov.au/dogs

06.01.2022 Welcome to the next environmental pandemic! Come on... we are better than this!!

06.01.2022 I know a lot of people have masks already - and there is plenty of options out there - but like all good fashion accessories, can one really have enough? Blac...k, sleek, comfortable, and sporting the patriotic Lest we Forget moniker - its a must have for all fashion aficionados!! It's perhaps pertinent to remind my military mates that this week marks The Battle of Lone Pine - fought between the ANZACs and Ottoman Empire forces during the Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War, in 1915. What better time to show your patriotism!? Proceeds will go towards the Eyes Front charity backed Enduring Spirit Fund - to assist a terminally ill veteran (recognized for their esteemed military values) to tick off a bucket list item. These are not yet in the online store - but you can pre-order via [email protected] More info on the fund, and the work Eyes Front do, is available on their website

06.01.2022 As not for profits and charities we must unite! If we dont we will continue to loose the fight!

03.01.2022 There are some in Hollywood who actually get it. Thanks to Mr. Russell for this. Kurt Russell Yes... lets all join in the hatred of all police for the sins of a few. Lets defund one of the most important public institutions in our countries history. Lets have all badges removed and allow people to tend to their own safety and security. But before you do so, Let me tell you about the badge and the thousands of good men and women it represents....... The Badge This badge ran towards certain death as the Towers collapsed on 9-11. This badge ran into the line of fire to save the people in the Pulse Night Club. This badge sheltered thousands as bullets rained down from the Mandalay Hotel in Las Vegas. This badge protected a BLM rally that left five officers dead in Dallas. This badge ran into the Sandy Hook School to stop a school shooter. This badge killed the Oregon District mass shooter in seconds. This badge has done CPR on your drowned child. This badge has fist fought the wife beater who left his spouse in a coma. This badge has run into burning buildings to save the occupants. This badge has been shot for simply existing. This badge has waded through flood waters to rescue the elderly trapped on the roof. This badge has intentionally crashed into the wrong way driver to protect innocent motorists. This badge has helped find the lost child so his mother would stop crying hysterically. This badge has helped the injured dog off the road and rushed it to the vet. This badge has escorted the elderly woman across the street because she couldn't see well and was afraid to cross. This badge has bought food for hungry kids because they had been abandoned. This badge has been soaked in blood and tears. This badge has been covered by a mourning band to honor those who have sacrificed everything in service. You may hate me because I wear it. But, I wear it with pride. Despite your hate and your anger, I will await the next call for help. And, I will come running without hesitation. Just like the thousands of men and women across this great nation. This badge. ~Unknown Every cop, cop friend, cop relative, and supporter should copy & paste!!! I just did!! #backtheblue
