24.01.2022 There is no better way to spend a warm Sunday evening than wondering through the hills of Jarrahdale and finding yourself perched on a beautiful granite outcrop overlooking the vast valley of Kitty's Gorge and watching the sun go down... while nibbling on gourmet treats and sipping on a glass of bubbles.. or two! We gathered together in Jarrahdale for a private and bespoke hiking experience for the Travelling Femmes and set off through the lush jarrah forest along Stacey's L...oop, winding our way through lush flowering Watsonia, crossing the Gooralong Brook, and taking in the beautiful old growth Jarrah with stunning Xanthorea's and Zamia's dotted throughout. Crossing through the old Gooralong campground we bypassed the entry to Kitty's Gorge and set off up the hill. Feeling the warmth of the afternoon it was lovely to be emersed amongst the towering trees, protected by the canopy and enjoying the shade. We made our way along the ridge with stunning views for miles of the valley below and the horizon beyond. With laughter and exciting stories of previous adventures we made our way to our secret granite dining spot where we relaxed with amazing food and a glass of bubbles and enjoyed the peace that nature brings whilst watching the sunset. Having been treated to a wonderfully balmy evening we were blessed when the only clouds of the day created an amazing red sunset for us to enjoy. The warmth from the sun and the endless view was super special with a bunch of amazing adventurous women. With full bellies and happy hearts we set off once again... this time adorned with head lamps. Setting off into the arms of the night with still pink tinges over the horizon we could feel the temperature drop, along with sun. The cool night air was broken with the sounds of a few birds, insects and a bunch of blissfully merry hikers. It was a spectacular way to end the weekend and our happy hikers set off home ready to take on what the new week had on offer. 23.01.2022 As the lucky couples arrived for our Valentine’s Day Starlight and Sparkling Experience there was definitely romance in the air. All these couples were looking for a different experience and we surely delivered! We headed out from South Ledge in Beelu National Park, walking a section of the Bibbulmun track. It was an intimate group, and it was lovely to hear the stories from the couples as to why they chose a hike to celebrate this day. As we made our way through Paull...’s Valley we admired the bush views whilst the occasional sprinkle of rain fell on us. We reached a granite outcrop and rested, soaking in the nature and serenity as our couples enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries and spectacular views! We headed back to another outcrop to watch the sunset over the valley before turning around to witness a glorious rainbow appear through the darker clouds. As dusk settled we made our way back to Golden View Lookout. Here our guests were welcomed by the spectacular views of Lake C.Y. O’Connor and the Mundaring Weir. Each couple sat down to their private table adorned with flowers, Hershey’s Kisses, and a single rose for the special lady. With soft jazz playing in the background and the romantic flickering of tea light candles dotting the deck as the last of the daylight transformed into night, they sipped on cold sparkling winewell-deserved after a good hikeand grazed on a full platter of gourmet canapés, dips, cheeses and nibbles while in each other’s company in quiet conversation. It was a cloudy evening but the clouds parted just enough for a few stars to twinkle through. With hearts and bellies content, it was time to leave our private dining deck and say our goodbyes. 16.01.2022 There were some familiar faces and a few new ones on Sunday morning as we set off on our Rocky Pools Hiking Experience. Starting early to beat the heat, we tackled the steep undulating terrain as a team helping each other up and down the slopes on our way to Rocky Pool. Marvelling at the beautiful granite rock formations and the odd Mulla Mulla flower made the hike fly by and before we knew it we’d reached Rocky Pool. Morning tea and a return trip along part of the Bibbul...um made for a wonderful morning. And all before some people have even woken up. What a great way to start a Sunday! Well done to Sarah, our lead Guide, for spotting and calling in a fire in the distant Mundaring area. Luckily it was already known to the fire service and it didn’t impede our hike. 09.01.2022 Everyone arrived at Surfpoint lodge and settled in, excited about the weekend ahead. We tucked into our barbecued local fish with salads, finished off with a selection of connoisseur ice-creams. 04.01.2022 Did you know, moss will grow pretty much anywhere that has enough water, whether it’s trees, fallen logs, roots, walls, buildings or even granite outcrops. But trees offer other benefits to help mosses colonise and flourish! Tree bark is rough and irregular, and these cracks and crevices provide a protected micro habitat. Moss is extremely fragile and can take a long while to rejuvenate after being stepped on. So please ensure you stick to the trails and bare rock surfaces on granite outcrops to avoid damaging this special species! #OffTheBeatenTrack #Hiking #ThisIsWA
