07.01.2022 For more than 20 years, there’s been a lot of talk about improving facilities on Bullock Island at Lakes Entrance... now there’s going to be some action! In the... next few months, we will see work start on about $10 million worth of upgrades including new and improved facilities at Lakes Entrance Fishermen’s Co-op, a new access bridge, public toilets, recreation areas and sealed access roads. The island has always been popular with locals and visitors but the facilities on this iconic site have never matched the magnificent location at the entrance to the Gippsland Lakes. I was pleased to secure $5 million from the Federal Government for this important work and it’s good to see local and state government contributions, along with funds from LEFCOL to implement the first stages of the master plan. The end result will be an improved visitor experience to watch the boats unload, and purchase fresh seafoood, along with better facilities for walkers, anglers, photographers and sight-seeing. #lovegippsland

05.01.2022 IMPORTANT CUSTOMER MESSAGE Last night we discovered a post circulating on social media regarding a false covid accusation concerning our business. This is misin...formation and untrue. It has since been reported and removed but unfortunately it has been reposted and spread. This is the correct information. Everyone at David Luckes Fresh Food Market has been requested by Agriculture Victoria and DHHS to have a covid test as part of a statewide screening test of certain areas of the meat industry. This is because we fall under the category of a meat processing licence in the state of Victoria. It is a blanket testing program for every business who holds these licenses, wherever in Victoria your business is located. It is a safety precaution and has nothing to do with the individual health of any of our staff members. No staff members at this time have any covid symptoms but everyone is still required to have the test. After staff members have been tested, they are permitted to return to work as soon as possible, as stated in the email we received which you can read below. Of course, if a staff member did have symptoms they would be required to self isolate. We take all precautionary measures very seriously, including the temperature checking of our staff at the start of every shift and the sanitizing of our store and surrounds three times a day, seven days a weeks. We feel this is extremely unfair of this person to spread this misinformation without bothering to find out the real facts. As a community minded business, we are horrified, our staff are extremely upset and our customers are justifiably concerned. Thank you to the people who informed us of this incident.
