23.01.2022 Message from the President Firstly - Thank you parent volunteers for your assistance during last Saturday's changes to the program. The session was split to allow more little athletes to register. This meant more parent roster duties, and OGBHLAC was on 'pack up', but it all went very smoothly. Good job! It would appear that the capacity cap may be scrapped this week following Sunday's easing of restrictions - but look out for GLAC communications regarding this Saturday's pr...ogram. Hopefully we can all compete together, making for a better atmosphere at Landy. Its Program 3 this Saturday 12th Dec. We then have one more meet this side of Christmas (Sat 19th Dec), so please get down to Landy, rack up some points for your club, and beat your PB's. The Committee are thrilled to let you know that our 50th Anniversary Training T-Shirts have finally arrived, and we will be giving each registered athlete a commemorative 50th Anniversary T-Shirt! Yes I know we are a great club - all you need to do is tell your friends and family! Please look after your training tee, as we ask that each athlete wears the 50th Anniversary Training T-Shirt at the 'March Past' on Sat 20th March 2021. Put that one in the diary. The Week 4 Bendigo Bank (Barwon Heads Branch) OGBHLAC Athlete of the Week is MILLER SMITH (U13B). Miller is flying this season. He won 4 of his 5 events last Saturday, and his effort at these events was exemplary. Well done Miller! We have several spot prizes this week - each little athlete receiving a Chips & Gravy Voucher from the Piping Hot Chicken Shop: WINIFRED PETTIGROVE & ZARAH GILMOUR (U8G) for their joint first performances in the Shot Put. OLIVIA GROGAN (14G) for her assistance on the High Jump. Come and grab your vouchers next Saturday. See you next Saturday. Going to be great weather, so let's get down there. Be your best. Matt

20.01.2022 Message from the President Great atmosphere down at Landy last Saturday for our penultimate competition day of 2020. Appreciate that the Covid normal session means parent volunteers are helping out for large periods of the morning in the baking sun, so thank you and I’m sure your kids appreciate it.... Hope the kids liked their 50th Anniversary training tops. They looked fab! Reminder to get the kids to wear these on March Past day at the end of the season (if they haven’t lost them by then!) The ResultsHQ system was down over the weekend, but it’s back up if the kids want to check out their results /Pb’s etc. The Week 5 Bendigo Bank (Barwon Heads Branch) OGBHLAC Little Athlete of the Week is CAITLIN FOLEY (U9G) for her endeavours last Saturday. Well done Caitlin! Spot prizes this week, all receiving Piping Hot Chicken Shop Chips and Gravy vouchers go to all of the U14B’s for their competitiveness - ASHTON BLOUNT, DANE GREAVES, BRUNO PARFITT & FORBES GILMOUR. Well done boys! Last Saturday comp. for 2020 this Saturday. See you there. Be your best! Matt

19.01.2022 We have a start date of 14th November... Whoopee! Please call me on 0404231125 if anyone has any queries whatsoever

19.01.2022 Message from the President Great day of competition last Saturday! Piccie of Amelie Parfitt receiving her Week 1 OGBH Athlete of the Week certificate and Chips & Gravy voucher from the Piping Hot Chicken Shop!... The Week 2 Bendigo Bank (Barwon Heads Branch) OGBHLAC Little Athlete of the Week is GRETA JONES (U15G) for a majestic performance in the 800m....Fantastic effort Greta! For tryouts who want to become ‘financial’, and get a timing bib for this Saturday, GLAC are doing their utmost to get the portal re-opened. There is a covid cap of 500 allowed at Landy Field (which I understand includes parent helpers). This is obviously very frustrating for all involved. We’ll update you on the status of the registration portal as soon as there are any changes. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ‘comment’ below or give me a call 0404231125. Be your best! See you Saturday. Program 1. Matt.

19.01.2022 With the season approaching, we will be at the clubrooms in Barwon Heads (behind the Bop Bop Karrong child care centre) between 5-6pm on Friday 6th November for Uniform sales, and general enquiries. Hope to see you there!

15.01.2022 We have a taker for Child Protection Officer... Whoopee!!!!!! Now for Secretary/Roster, and Vice President.... anyone...anyone? Hi Gang GLAC are uncertain as to if and how this season’s Track & Field will commence. However, they need to be organised for the season, and require contact details for OGBHLAC’s:... Vice President ............. Secretary/Roster ......... Child Protection Officer ........... I’m more than willing to do President and Treasurer role (unless someone else is keen) Can you please comment by the end of the week if you can take on any of the 3 core roles above? Call me on 0404231125 if you’d like to discuss what the roles entail. Thank you!!!!!!

13.01.2022 Message from the President I think you'll agree it was simply great to see our kids back out in the sporting arena, smiling, laughing, and competing after being locked away for the majority of 2020. I think our 50th Anniversary year is going to rock! Fantastic to see all our returning members again, and a load of new little athletes and their families. So pleasing to see so many Mums and Dads putting their hand up to assist with the parent roster. Big 'pat on the back' OGB...HLAC parents! Let's hope as restrictions ease, we can get 5 events in each morning. Remember: any try-outs who enjoyed their experience, and want a timing bib for the season, please ensure you are paid up and emailed your child's proof of birth to GLAC (Geelong Little Athletics Centre) by 5pm this Monday to ensure the bib is ready for collection this Saturday morning. Week 1 Bendigo Bank (Barwon Heads Branch) OGBHLAC Little Athlete of the Week is AMELIE PARFITT (U16 Girls). Amelie threw 30.20m in the discus, breaking both the OGBHLAC record of 16.16m, and the GLAC record of 20.91m. HUGE! See you all next Saturday. Be your best! Matt

12.01.2022 Thanks to The Voice Newspaper for promoting our club and the season ahead. Still no confirmed start date. Watch this space.

09.01.2022 Come and get ‘em!!!!

08.01.2022 Earlier today, the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, released a statement announcing that regional communities would proceed to the ‘Third Step’ of the re-open...ing roadmap, effective from 11.59pm on 16th September. In a positive development for the commencement of the 20/21 season for our sport, the statement, in part, reads: Outdoor contact and non-contact sport will begin for regional Victorians aged 18 and under, as well as outdoor non-contact sport for adults, with gathering and density limits. In its announcements on Sunday 6th September, the State Government foreshadowed this development as part of the roadmap for Step 3. Unlike the hard dates set out for metropolitan Melbourne, the steps to re-opening for regional Victoria will continue to be determined by infection rates. At this stage, there is no further information available regarding the conditions and restrictions under which our sport can commence. Statement: https://lav.lc/b5e36 Roadmap: https://lav.lc/ce58f More information will be communicated once we know more. Stay tuned to your member email address for details. See more

08.01.2022 Helpers - if anyone is able to help on high jump tomorrow please come and see Matt or Ruth first thing. Unfortunately one of the volunteers is sick and can’t attend. Many thanks

05.01.2022 Just noticed that our very own Amelie Parfitt (U16G) got another GLAC record last weekend - 10.68m in the Shot Put. Outstanding Amelie - second GLAC record of the season! OGBHLAC is on ‘pack up’ this Saturday, so please do not hesitate to take the On-Track equipment back to the equipment shed, and any other equipment that appears to be left out....

04.01.2022 Message from the President Have to admit that I missed a lot of last Saturday’s competition due to a forced Nanna nap . Must be getting old. Nonetheless, saw some real determination from our OGBH little athletes. A special thank you to all our parent volunteers. Please continue to put yourself forward for duty roster for the coming weeks.... If you have children U8-U12 who are keen to represent GLAC at regional relays, these are now in March, but please register your interest at the Competition office. GLAC will be providing coaches and team managers as the time arises, and you may wish to assist with these roles. The Week 3 Bendigo Bank (Barwon Heads Branch) OGBHLAC Athlete of the Week is ALESSANDRA MARIANI (U9G). Ally broke a nearly 20 year old OGBH record in the 60mH with a time of 11.80sec, pipping the joint record featured in the image. Well done Ally. Come and collect your certificate and free chips and gravy voucher from the Piping Hot Chicken Shop this Saturday. We also have a spot prize for ZANDER ZURAWEL for his support shown towards other athletes in the U13B 1500m! Good lad Zander! Parents - please do not hesitate to let me know if you see either your child or another member of OGBH (child or parent) do something worthy of a weekly award/spot prize. Records/Calendar etc are all at www.ogbhlac.org.au Watch this space for tryouts wanting to become ‘financial’... hopefully ‘Covid-normal’ kicks in in Victoria sooner rather than later. See you Saturday Go OGBH! Be your best. Matt

04.01.2022 With confirmation that the new season of competition will be commencing on Sat 31st Oct, we are still in need of Committee assistance to run as smooth a season as possible. Our vacant positions are below. Please message me as soon as possible if you can help out in one of these positions this season. Thank you

03.01.2022 Hi All Just a quick update as to the forthcoming season. We are yet to be directed by LAVic and therefore we are none the wiser at this stage. As soon as we know whether there is going to be a start date or condensed season, we’ll let you know. Stay safe and healthy.
