21.01.2022 M O T I V A T I O N You know what is lacking in pregnancy? Motivaaaaaation. Cristina has had a rough start to her pregnancy, she wasn’t feeling the best with lots of nausea and general fatigue. She kept moving, gentle exercise and walks even when she didn’t want too just to keep a base level of strength in her back. . . Now she is over the hump she’s back in to it, with modifications thrown in. Workouts generally are about 30mins, because... that’s just about the attention span of a toddler. Doing some youtube body weight workouts, working out with me, walking and doing bootcamp. When you’re pregnant the motivation to exercise should be to just maintain a level of fitness and strength. 17.01.2022 W O R K O U T There are a few exercises that clients tell us they don’t like and lunges is deff top of that list. They are hard because they work us unevenly, they make us use all of our leg muscles and our balance. This is also exactly why they are so good for us! . . To make lunges that bit easier heres a few tips. Firstly make sure you stand with your legs hip width apart and when you step back keep that width, don’t cross your leg beh...ind you or take it our wide. Secondly don’t be afraid to use a finger or two on a wall to balance, if it helps steady you then go for it. Thirdly don’t push your hands down on your thighs, put them on your hips instead, we want to work your legs. Lastly make sure you’re on your tippy toes when you step back, we don’t want to plant that foot, we want to balance on your toes. . . Don’t be afraid to spend time getting your technique right. You don’t have to rush to keep up with anyone, this is your workout and these are your lunges. It doesn’t have to be something crazy like burpee box jump chin ups it can be slamming a ball a few times in a row, jumping from the floor on to a step, pressing 5kgs above your head, touching your bum down to the seat when you squat or holding a plank 10sec longer than you used. 07.01.2022 C H R I S T M A S Sending all of our love to those who can't be with their families this festive season, being so geographically dispersed, wether that is suburbs away or contients away, this year feels like heartbreak. . . Its been a huge year, it is normal to feel a sense of sadness and loss. We have all lost so much in 2020, it doesn't matter if that was wedding plans, trip plans, not being able to be with an unwell loved one or being stuck overseas. It's all loss, its al...l trauma. We need to feel it to move through it. . So take some time to just be slow and reflect on the year that has been. 06.01.2022 T H O U G H T S Anyone else watching The Crown? Oh my god, how good is it?! While watching this season it brought up a few things for me in relation to Eating Disorders. One is how looking back there is an upside to having had an ED. . . I am glad that my ED forced me to look at my relationship with eating. The work I did helped me build trust in my body and in food. It brings me to a place in my life now where I know what to eat, I can tr...eat myself and most importantly that I can adjust my eating behaviours when I know I need to without feeling shame. . . I want this feeling of trust for everyone, not just those who have suffered with eating disorders. I think that understanding how our emotions drive our relationship with food is the key to finding balance. We so often know what we should be eating, how we should be eating but something just sabotages us, swinging us off track. That sabotage is our emotions. For whatever reason our relationship with food was damaged. A lot of this is done when we are young by the media, creating shame around eating. . . When we work on repairing that wound then we can have a more positive relationship with food. 03.01.2022 W E - U N D E R S T A N D We always get asked if people can bring their kids to our sessions and the answer is yes! We have lots of entertainment for them with toys, bikes, a small slide and a swing they can play on. Being an under cover outdoor gym we also have ample outdoor space for them to roam, or shaded area to keep them out of the sun. . With everyones health and safety in mind all of our toys and bikes are sanitised after every use.... . . Please be aware that children that come to sessions are still under your care and supervision. We do our best to keep an eye out for them, but we are busy making sure you guys get sweaty ;) . .
