24.01.2022 Children were imitating family experiences through pretend play. They have engaged in outdoor water play washing baby dolls in the bubble bath station and pretended they were at the beach with the blue tarp being the ocean filled with sea animals, a dinosaur and an excavator truck!

24.01.2022 Our toddlers have been learning counting, colours and shapes through different games that develop and enhance children's logical, mathematical, visual and spacial cognitive abilities. Children also practiced their fine motor skills and dexterity by picking up, moving and fitting different shapes/objects together.

23.01.2022 Our babies being curious learners examining the cylindrical shape by turning it around, tasting it and looking through it before plunging it into paint and stamping the mirror observing the emerging circle pattern. Some decided to paint the ground as well as each other enjoying the texture of the paint.

17.01.2022 This Wednesday is Early Childhood Educators’ Day. In celebrating this day our Educators will be having their own Subway luncheon in recognition for all they do with your children and as an expression of our thanks. Keep an eye on social media that afternoon for photos of our Educators in action celebrating with the children. Early Childhood Educators’ Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia’s educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to... the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. 14.01.2022 The children were involved in cooking Lemon Myrtle Biscuits as part of NAIDOC week. Each child added an ingredient to the bowl and observed the ingredients being mixed together. This experience provided the children with learning the names of the ingredients, mathematical processes involved in measuring ingredients to set quantities, as well as observing how the heat of the oven changes the consistency of the biscuits from soft dough to a hard biscuit. The best part of course was eating them!

08.01.2022 We have extended our Platypus children's interest in sensory play with exploring textures. We experimented using paint and sand. The children poured sand into the paint and watched as the texture changed from wet and slimy to hard and rough. This experience then inspired children to dip the rim of buckets and cups into the mix and to transfer the shape circle onto a mirror wall. The children have learnt about the circle shape in previous month's activities and it was interesting to see they have remembered how to do circular prints on the wall.

06.01.2022 Have you done this as a child? Hopscotch is a fun way to develop children’s number recognition and development of gross motor skills.

05.01.2022 This week we have been learning about the universe across the whole service. Children lead the activities through meaningful conversations, learning about the planets in our galaxy and trying to see them through a telescope, exploring rockets and making an astronaut suit. Educators enjoyed scaffolding children's learning through all the planned and spontaneous activities.

05.01.2022 Exploration of senses with slime. Our babies have enjoyed investigating the feeling of slime running through their fingers and toes. Some children used utensils to mix the slime, whilst others went straight in with their two hands letting it run between their fingers. Some examined their hands afterward to see what was causing the new slimy feeling.

02.01.2022 Building core muscle strength is an essential skill in the early years for the children to reach milestones in their development. Our educators are always encouraging these skills and planning experiences encompassing gross motor development as our little ones are learning to sit, crawl and walk for the first time. We are happy to report, that over the past few weeks, we have had lots of Platypus children reaching these milestones.

01.01.2022 As part of the Children's Literacy and Numeracy, the toddlers engaged in learning about the different kinds of shapes through painting. The children were learning to recognise and name the shapes while creating colourful shape patterns.

01.01.2022 As you can see from the faces of our Dingo and Joey room children, they have thoroughly enjoyed an outdoor sensory experience with jelly-like slime. They added a variety of 'ingredients' to the mix over the course of the week to explore how they feel covered in slime.
