25.01.2022 After considerable consideration of the fire situation at SWR we at have decided to close the service on Tuesday 12th November 2019 as conditions tomorrow will worsen and be unpredictable. Our primary concern is the safety of all children and staff. All fees charged for the Tuesday will be credited to the family accounts involved. Please ensure you stay safe in this very difficult time. Apologies for any inconveniences that this may have caused.

24.01.2022 The Pre school children who are going to South West Rocks Primary School next year went to the school Library for their transition visit. Mrs Cooney showed them around the Library first before they got to sit down for a planned group time by Mrs Cooney.'' 'Eric Carle' was the author that Mrs Cooney chose for the book she was going to read. It was called 'The Very Busy Spider'. This book was enjoyed by all the children and when asked they were able to recall all of the charact...ers that were in the book. After the reading of this book Mrs Cooney placed two hoops on the floor. One hoop said Non- Fiction and the other said Fiction. Mrs Cooney explained the difference between the two and she then invited the children up one by one to come and select a book from the pile of books she was holding to see if it belonged in the Fiction or the Non-Fiction hoop. The children through their actions demonstrated that they were listening to Mrs Conney's explanation of the difference between Fiction and Non-Fiction as the children looked at the front cover and worked out if it was a made up story or a factual book. Some of the children even opened up the book to look inside before they made their decision. Mrs Cooney was very pleased with their efforts as well as their knowledge of knowing who writes and draws the pictures in the book. As well as the spine of the book, the children said "this holds the book together like our spine holds us together". Mrs Cooney said I might have to start with year One work with this group. After their Library visit the children went over to the hall where some Kindy children read a book to them in small groups. They then were joined by the other SWR preschool for lunch and then it was time to go back to school in the bus. Before we went back to the school we took the children for a drive around the headland to see what the ocean was doing. This was a lovely way to complete our day and our trip in the bus. This experience is assisting to prepare the children for BIG school as well as how we act when present in the Library.

03.01.2022 Kindy Rocks Early Learning Preschool Book Week Parade at South West Rocks Primary School.. The children who are going to school next year at SWR attended their Book Week Parade. They dressed up in their favourite book character and joined the kindergarten children in the parade. Miss Leeanee and Miss Trish were very proud of the children as they joined in this parade with confidence and smiles on their faces. They also sat attentively throughout the performances from the tea...chers and the children. The children's response when asked "did you like going to book week parade?" they said loudly "yes it was fun" pause.. "We will know what to do next year when we go to school" These responses made their teachers feel so happy because this was the whole purpose of attending.
