25.01.2022 Collaboration: @lainieskitchen @OhBoo_ We are so excited to partner with Lainie kitchen. For us, she epitomize what we represent... embracing diversity, sharing love and passion for their craft with no limit... We feel that she could be an amazing ambassador for our brand ! Could ? Well.. read on... Since she makes such an amazing food presentation on Instagram, I hatched a plan... to know how good are they ??? So I proposed a meeting and since it was a busy day, I told ...her I can meet only at 3:00 pm but I would not have had lunch yet so I would be really hungry (it sounded like someone looking for a feed... but wanting to know if it’s beyond just pretty pics made me go for it ...) I have to say that there is no doubt, she made that dish alive and probably had the best rice-fish dish ever ! Just imagine, my sisters chocolate on a visual/tasting sensation but on a savory version ! It was hard to concentrate during the meeting while I eating (thinking about it now...it’s quite embarrassing!) but we eventually got a plan to create the most stunning chocolate box for the coming Jewish New Year! Make sure you write all these ingredients down for Chef Fanny to consider.. She reminded me after I asked for a glass of water ... haha! I did! The verdict ? We believe created something really special for the Jewish New Year chocolates .... How did it turn out ? The photo speaks for itself ! The flavour combinations created by the two culinary maestros are a combination of flavours from Apple, Manuka honey, to pomegranate molasses and burnt butter... We are so proud that we live in this most egalitarian/multicultural country in the world so that we are able to share these creations .... like a thread to a weaver or an ingredient in a recipe, it is the soul beyond these simple ingredients that creates something magical and beyond words ! We hope you feel the same way ... Yea, we are open to future collaborations with people of diverse background and expertise who share the same passion as we do! 23.01.2022 Last week for us was the most delivery we ever done in a week ! A total of 27 deliveries in 3 day! .... driving back and forth Hopetoun road in Vauclaus like a Sydney Metro Rail track ala Mr Bean style on my red Alfa with those roundabouts ! . Still had a few minor quibbles such as delivering chocolates to the wrong unit and driving back to re-enter that person backyard and putting it into the right unit (believe me, re-entering another premise to take the gift back felt l...ike a break n entry !) and I manage to get someone’s attention while that person was sitting on the balcony to open the door and deliver it to their neighbour.... complete with subtle suggestions of name identification and photo confirmation to make sure the chocolates does not wander about .... The more I discover our city the more I realise not only how beautiful our city is but far more than that there was no sense in my delivery that I was being chased by big guard dogs and security fences... ( it was more like barking poodle and beagle! ) I believe that we live in one of the safest, tolerant and most egalitarian society in the world (let’s keep it that way)... My highlight of course is stopping by for a few minutes (like I always do) to capture the moment (chill) of my delivery.... I stopped by beside this house (not a customer of ours !) and stayed there for 15 minutes.... walked around the grass to finish off my cold coffee and just enjoyed the moment ! Thank you so much for the wonderful talented and professional collaboration with our new brand ambassador @lainieskitchen and to all of our customers....from people who celebrated the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) to the rest of our customers who celebrated their weekend with our chocolates.... 12.01.2022 Top 5 Lesson of 2020 : #3 - Embrace everyone ! One shoe fits all and it could never be more true than 2020. I remember when our customer whittled down to 3 customer in one day during the lockdown, I said ... how are we going to go through this situation... without auctioning my kidney off ... From a potential hostage taker to a cheer leader, we would not have survived this year without the support of our landlord, Lendlease. Scott, @at.gayatri and the rest of team still ...gently pushed us but they kept encouraging us to keep going !! ... it’s probably like judo, if someone attacks you, embrace it and tackle it down at least go down fighting right ?! We survived 2020 !!! Now, I have felt this new connectedness in Barangaroo... people now take their time with us share things like the new hobbies they have taken, comparing Netflix notes, and just that real social, human interaction! 12.01.2022 Top 5 lesson of 2020. #5 - Small things are great ! Home deliveries could be a pain, time/day specific, you get to pressed different door bells, walked multi level steps, pushed some of the heaviest gates for a residential home, and all the while while making social distancing- specially some vicious twin cats. Eventually, you get to realise that ones garden is truly a window of ones home. I saw garden of roses, manicured lawn, old cars, happy bar...king dogs, death stare cats, bowling alley driveway and somehow it makes my delivery special for I made sure that no matter what obstacle every delivery person does, what he values the most is a good and grateful smile ! With delivering something as personal chocolates, every delivery is truly personal and memorable for me ! 11.01.2022 Oh boo blog (July 24 2020): Sneaking out requires a lot of effort, skills and luck... but not when you work in Barangaroo... when literally at your backyard, you can squeeze a meeting /(or a date) in between work and still get back to work on time looking really focused ! But with what’s happening now, things have changed a bit, lots of our customers who works in the tower ends up sneaking back to their office and they come to see us for a longer chat (besides stocking choc...olates) and for all the conversation.... it does not matter how amazing/well adjusted they are working from home ... they miss Barangaroo so much and like someone who catches your breath at first sight, it is too hard to be too far from her...Photo: On one on of my lunch escapade, I took this photo not knowing that in less than a years time .... When we got a call from group of artistic dance performance group Decadance at the Sydney Festival, ordering some chocolate as a gift to their team and crew, we immediately dropped everything and did a 24 hour turn around for the order. The order touched us deeply because it reminded us that Art is truly alive more than ever in our community despite all the noises. We have met a lot of artist in our field last year, @saywellgallery ...- who opened an art gallery last year, @yueyuan_sydney who is passionately curating and promoting the ancient Su Embriodery, @pedullastudio , whose work made us think that even a tree cut down is alive, @laraandallo whose passion for dance and music has never stopped her, @matthewelyjewellery -whose jewellery artworks are truly world class and handmade. @lainieskitchen , whose magical cooking, once experienced is just out of this world ! 10.01.2022 Top 5 lesson of 2020 #4 Collaborate and grow. During the deep freeze lockdown, half of my Instagram time was spent on looking at savory things (I mean food of course!). One of them was @lainieskitchen , I reached out to her for a collaboration and gladly found myself delectably distracted from her meal as we were brain storming for ideas for the upcoming Jewish New Year... Because of this effort in reaching out, I manage to have a record delivery of 21 deliveries in 3 days, ...driving through the Eastern Suburb like a metro train track (forward, reverse, stop, go)! And Miss Lainie even managed to to do all payment for us making it the most seamless transaction ever.... almost like afterpay ! This delivery experience was so fun ! This is indeed a great lesson for us this 2020 and has opened our heart to further collaboration with people even from different industry ! 02.01.2022 It was Father’s Day Sunday.... so I had first delivery at Rose Bay at midday then I got 2.5 hours of time to burn.... so in my usual self, I drove at the end of the road and found myself at a small park overlooking the water (indeed you never get lost in Sydney... it’s either the bushland or the beach... ignore GPS ... just drive straight !). I have seen Hunger Games a few times and you know that scene where Katniss would try and hit the deer and she barely missed it? Well,... in reality, you would feel for this guy as he try to pop a stationary balloon 10 meters away and struggle! I was sitting on this grass and chuckling myself ! How could he miss ?! The trainer stopped everyone as the arrows were just flying over or under the target A young boy yelled and ask How do we aim ?! Everyone laughed at such simple questions... anyway, after a good hour (with my chocolate safely under a shade), I left for the final delivery. The scene of this shooting arrows (Archery) overlooking our beautiful Sydney shore was so beautiful and really reminded me of something.... life sometimes can takes something seemingly very simple and obvious and twists it for you! I could never imagine that I would be doing so much more home delivery (even time specific- please deliver at this time delivery ... ) than I ever imagined. We are a retail store... ..Sometimes I can’t help to think how much of this effort will lead to... but always after every home delivery I make ...when I get to talk to people whom I deliver it to... see their expression of surprise and happiness when they receive them, it’s all worth the effort ! Life will never be the same again for us and we hope you feel the same too .... We will just keep shooting the target till we get somewhere and give ourselves a good laugh along side it (I have a fair share of this on my delivery stories) ! If we can’t hit it at 10 meters, we will start at 2 meters ! Thank you so much again for all your love and support !
