24.01.2022 Raine is having a day at home because at 7am she was unwell but by halfway through the class I was running she decided she was tip top and has been running rings around me all day I am dealing with a million tantrums each day from each child and it’s breaking me. It is an honour to be caring for new mothers (even if they have older children) and the fourth trimester journey is different for every family. Now more than ever women need access to continuous care throughout pregnancy and into motherhood. New parents require the reassurance t...hat they are doing a great job. 07.01.2022 Seriously. This is unhealthy. We are losing birth choices, we are losing our faith in birth, we are losing the magic of birth and a beautiful post partum period, we are losing our voice. I have had an emergency cesarean where I didn’t fail to progress but rather the hospital system failed to support ideal birthing conditions, failed to wait, failed to INFORM me. As women, we need to do the work first. Prior to conception we need to nourish our bodies and minds. During pregnancy we need to empower ourselves with all the information we need to TRUST birth. We need to support our sisters and daughters via sharing positive birth stories, helping new mummas in the fourth trimester and rewarding midwives financially for their experience, effort and faith in the physiological passage from womb, earthside.

07.01.2022 There have been a few times in a few births where a birthing goddess has locked eyes with me and the thought runs through my mind that only women can do this. Only women can grow life, only women can bring that life earth side and only women can truly hold space for another birthing woman. To deny a birthing woman her right to as much or little support as she feels she needs during labour and postpartum INFURIATES me. Most of my clients choose hospital birth for various re...asons and the support of a doula, a sister, a trusted confidant, a birth photographer in addition to a loving and educated partner is an ESSENTIAL piece of the birthing experience. In my first birthing experience I was highly educated but without the right support and with a few interventions and midwifery changes my mindset wavered and I wound up being cut open. The invaluable support and love I received from my midwives when I birthed Raine and Reef at home is the reason I became a doula. Women can do anything when they receive the right support. While I pray this whole bullshit will be over soon, and yes I’m thankful that it’s a little more quiet where I live for a short pause...my main hope is that women start to move away from hospital birth to home birthing. This picture is from one of the first births I attended, a very powerful VBAC for a dear friend photographed by one of the most skilled photographers in Melbourne. 07.01.2022 Everybody starts somewhere. Swipe to see my bigger body from I was about 19-21 this is what I looked like. I was a size ten at 5ft tall, I lived on $135 a fortnight from centrelink and it all went on booze, smokes, binge eating and energy drinks. When I started working as a personal trainer this is what I looked like! Then I started partying...so I looked leaner but I was by no means healthy. I couldn’t understand...I went weeks without eating more than 200cals A DAY but as... soon as I ate anything substantial I would balloon out (especially in my mind!). My fitness journey is a LONG story but fast forward to now, I am consistently lean, I eat a truly healthful vegan diet full of nutrients and energy so that I can train and model healthy body image for my children. It’s not always easy, and I have to be mindful often. I have had two relapses since having Reef but I am STOKED to say that I feel fit, healthful, happy in my skin and not controlled by what my body looks like at.all. The biggest things that have helped me are; focusing on what my body CAN do, rather than what I weigh filling myself with high vibrational organic food and allowing myself to eat junk food if I feel like it wanting to model healthy behaviors for my children and my nieces and all of the wonderful women I work with See more

To be honest, I don’t like playing...being silly...so when Reefy had a green smoothie mustache it took me a few mins to make a game out of it! 01.01.2022 how did you change? Becoming a mumma literally changed my life. I stopped smoking, partying, an ED, self loathing....for the first time in my life I wanted to actually LIVE. Don’t get me wrong...it wasn’t easy; I had university exams two weeks after River was born via emergency cesarean, he didn’t sleep from four weeks old to two years (), I went back to Uni and work WAY to quickly, and I had post partum depression due to his birth. I also learnt how to stand up for my...self, how to clearly communicate what I wanted and also how to follow my own path. No one else I knew (apart from my chiro) baby wore, used cloth nappies or breastfed on demand. My best friends parents came over many times in those early months and reassured me that a sleepless baby was in fact normal and to keep breastfeeding. My family was really supportive of me which surprised and delighted me and I really feel like having a baby helped heal a lot of pain for those around me. The last 3years have in fact been the hardest for me as a parent! Perhaps that is why I’m so keen on a fourth I honestly believe that parenting has the potential for massive transformation and healing - though universe, I’ve decided that that’s enough growth and lessons for now Thankyou See more
