21.01.2022 Guess who is finally back! Wowee I got a shocking winter bug and it knocked me out of the ring for far longer than I had anticipated. I have some exciting shoots coming up and a sweet little elopement this weekend.... Im excited to get back to annoying you all again soon! 18.01.2022 Covid and weddings, say f**k it and say I do anyway Covid is hanging around for a while it seems and I think its time we all start trying to adapt weddings to fit the new norm, rather than throw the plans of saying I do away, contact your photographer and celebrant, ask them to help you plan out something epic, think cliff tops, beaches, forests, sand dunes, road trips. Make it a whole thing, and say I do, thats the reason we have weddings isnt it? Then post covid, throw ...your reception party, even have another ceremony if you want, all the formalities will be done and dusted and youll get to throw the epic party you wanted. 17.01.2022 Oh hey there lovers! Its your two weirdos, max + miranda We thought we should jump on today and chat about our WHY.... Well that my friends is a great topic. I (Miranda) have always loved photography but never pursued it professionally, max came on the scene and it became a thing we both loved to do to document our travels. Anyway when we had our own wedding journey, I began to realise how many people probably ended up being stuck with a wedding they really didnt enjoy because they listened too much to everyone around them. That always leads to decisions based on others wants and needs rather than your own. We had started our planning here in Adelaide and really struggled to find venues that felt special enough to us. I guess you could say nothing spoke to us. Then scrolling through the gram one day I see a wedding by a waterfall, and well the rest is history. We had already announced a date to our friends and family for our adelaide wedding, we had booked things in, but it was the right decision because finally the wedding was about us. We were then able to spend our budget on the things that really mattered. Our photographer, getting a videographer, having a nice dress, and bridesmaid dresses. To me those were the important things so being able to save money from feeding people who wouldnt even remember the food, to being able to invest in the important things (for us) was the best decision we could have ever made. So after that day I realised I/we wanted to help other people in the same position, we wanted to be that voice for people to tell them its ok to follow your own plans, and show people its ok to break the norm, and to show that an elopement doesnt mean $100 dress and suit in a registry office anymore (not that there is anything wrong with that) and that you can absolutely still have a fancy af wedding with 15 people attending. 10.01.2022 Creating exotic looking elopements in your own state or country is the new destination wedding, and I am happy it is finally catching on. Ive spent the last couple of years trying to showcase how amazing elopements can be and that its time to break traditions and run away and create pure bloody magic here in SA, from rolling sand dunes at sunset, to mountains at sunrise, clifftops overlooking the ocean, forests on a cloudy day, rolling hills covered in whispy green grass, b...each ceremonies surrounded by sky high cliffs, the list of options in this little brain of mine is endless. 09.01.2022 Covid elopements, the ONE good thing to come out of all of this. Anyone that knows me knows I adore a good elopement or intimate wedding. Theres something about working with two people that have had the same revelation we did and that is: the day is about the two of you!... The entire atmosphere of one of these super spesh days is out of this world. It feels so relaxed and so fun, you can always see the couple is actually enjoying themselves, theres no freak outs, no panic about flowers, no stress about hair and makeup. For some reason when you elope/have a small wedding, it helps you see through all of that chaos and you just chill through the day far better than any of us can on a wedding day (speaking from experience with our own big day). 05.01.2022 Casey + Jake They quite literally made my life yesterday with this beautiful wedding. When you have been basically in your house for 8 weeks, hanging out with other humans again was a wild ride. I think Ive forgotten how to socialise somewhat but thats ok Weddings during covid, do you, dont you?... HECK YEAH YOU DO! Weddings are about the two of you and celebrating the absolute shit out of your love. The fact you can currently have 10 people makes it even better. Honestly thats as big as your guest list needs to be. It doesnt mean you dont get the flowers, or the gorgeous venue or the dress. In fact it means you get to invest more into those gorgeous details if you want to! You can throw a fab little 10 person house party after you say I do and have the best night of your life! Still want to party with your friends? Throw an epic party and chuck on your wedding gear next year and show off your photos and/or videos. It takes all the stress out of the day and you actually get to enjoy the time you spend with your friends and family at the big party down the track. Well its like when you have a bad haircut and your outfit isnt the one you wanted and your makeup is done terribly, you just dont feel like yourself and you dont feel good about showing off your look. Thats what our branding has felt like to me for the last 6 months. It was time to move forward and step into a brand that really felt like us. 01.01.2022 Elopements There has quite literally NEVER been a better time for more of Australia to embrace elopements. Lets make the best out of the crappiest situation. Elopement doesnt mean a courthouse, it doesnt have to mean boring clothes in a park, it doesnt mean you doing your own hair and makeup, or skipping the flowers, and it absolutely doesnt mean that you cant celebrate with the people you love down the track.... Let me tell you, the people that generally care the most about your ceremony, parents, siblings, and grandparents. Invite them, pick a beautiful forest or vast clifftop, or sandy beach, or a mountain backdrop, get your gorgeous flowers, wear that wedding dress, make it even more stunning than it would have been with hundreds of guests. Then in a year, or whenever corona decides to chill TF our, play your wedding video at an epic party in your backyard with your guests that missed out. Tell them to BYO booze, order some pizzas and wear your dress/suits again, and let yourself actually enjoy the reception that cost you a few thousand instead of 50.
