25.01.2022 #Advice - Dunns Road fire (Snowy Valleys LGA) Fire is burning in the Snowy Mountains area, north of the Victorian border and in an area between Khancoban and T...umut. The fire is more than 332,000 hectares in size and is being controlled. Current Situation The fire is burning south of the Hume Highway in areas around Ellerslie, south of Tumbarumba and south of Goobarragandra. Fire activity has eased across the majority of the fireground. Rain is forecast for the fireground today and Monday. This will further reduce fire activity however lightning is expected with storms. Advice Ournie, Tooma,Tumbarumba and Mannus areas The fire is still active within containment lines south of Ournie, Tooma, Mannus and Tumbarumba in the Mount Garland area. Monitor conditions. Goobarragandra Valley and Brindabella areas Fire continues to burn in the Bogong Peaks Wildreness to the south. Crews continue to conduct tactical backburning today supported by aircraft south of the Goobarragandra Valley Increased smoke is likely as a result of backburning operations around the Tumut area. Monitor conditions. Mount Adrah, Tumblong and Adelong areas The fire continues to burn within containment lines in the area south of the Hume Highway. If you are in this area, monitor conditions. Talbingo, Wondalga, Kunama, Batlow and surrounding areas Fire has passed through this area. There may still be active fire and unburnt areas. Monitor conditions. Be alert for falling trees and branches. Be alert for hazards around burnt properties. Do not enter until advised that it is safe to do so. Other Information Stay up to date on bush fires in your area by checking the NSW RFS website, listening to your local radio station, or by calling the NSW RFS Bush Fire Information Line on 1800 679 737. People with respiratory conditions who are affected by bush fire smoke should activate their health management plan and seek medical advice if necessary.
