19.01.2022 Blending essential oils is definitely an art. A basic synergy blend includes 3 drops top note, 5 drops middle note and 2 drops base note. When blending oils of the same note use 1:1:1 ratio meaning equal parts. It is definitely a good idea to do very small batches of no more than 1 ml of a blend and to let it sit for up to a week to allow the chemical constituents to synergise. Happy Blending!

18.01.2022 Petitgrain is a great oil to have on hand around the home. Well regarded for calming and relaxing the senses and in blends aimed at promoting cardiovascular health. Distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree it has a fresh slightly herbaceous, floral scent.

11.01.2022 THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM-ARE OUR PRODUCTS ORGANIC? Many people ask us whether our oils are certified organic and why they are much cheaper than other brands so I thought it would be a good idea to address this in a post. Firstly we only stock certified organic product and a select few wild harvested oils such as Sandalwood and Buddha Wood. Nothing in our range is sourced from non certified growers, producers or distributors. We buy in bulk and are constantly working on new s...ources of quality organic product to offer. We break this down into smaller retail quantities and add a small margin to help us to keep growing and diversifying. At this stage we do not re-certify our oils as "organic" because to do so would make the cost of our essential oils unaffordable. If you can already afford certified organic oils then this is not a problem for you but for many it is. But rest assured if we say our product is organic then it has been sourced 100% from an authentic and reputable organically certified grower or producer. We don't have a large marketing budget and our overheads are small due to us being a small team. We are not a large company but we are 100% Australian and looking to the future. Trying to keep prices as affordable as possible is our main goal. We want to support the growth of organic farms and more farms transitioning to organic. It is better for us all.

10.01.2022 Did you know there are approximately 20-40 different varieties of Lavender grown and that only two varieties are mainly used to produce essential oil. True Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and Lavandin (Lavandula grosso). Lavandin is a cross between True Lavender and Spike Lavender (Lavandula latifolia). So what is the difference between these two types of Lavender oil? Firstly the price of True Lavender is notably higher not because the oil is superior but because yield fr...om the True Lavender is lower than from the Lavandin variety. In other words growers need to grow more True Lavender to get the same amount of oil as Lavandin. We really love the aroma of both Lavender and Lavandin however the scent of True Lavender really does vary depending on where it is grown. Bulgarian Lavender has a more earthy floral tone than say True Lavender grown in France which has a lighter floral scent. The main difference in the aroma and chemical constituents of True Lavender and Lavandin lay in the oils camphor content. True Lavender has very low levels of camphor (typically 0%-0.6%) and Lavandin has higher levels (typically 6%-10%). This means the oils are suited to different purposes with True Lavender working well in calming blends and purposes focused on utilising the oils floral tones. Lavandin with its higher camphor content is more suited to remedies where camphor can be beneficial (i.e. colds / coughs / congestion etc). It may also be more useful used in household applications. In our view both oils possess the classic Lavender aroma so both can be enjoyed just on this fact alone. Both are very useful however if you are seeking the calming and relaxing properties of Lavender then True Lavender is for you. If you're looking for multi-purpose application then Lavandin is definitely worth a try.
