16.01.2022 I’m going to interrupt our usual programming this afternoon to tell you all a story. The dashing young chef above is Andrea. He’s Italian, living in Melbourne and until Covid shut down the restaurants and pubs he was working at Grossi Florentino. He is very, very talented. Finding himself without work and ineligible for government benefits Andrea decided to make pasta for the people from home. ... He soon realised he’d need more space, and if it took off he’d need more people too. So with the help of the legends at @cookaborough he was put in contact with a publican who had a commercial kitchen that wasn’t being used. That man is my husband Matt. And that pub is our family business the Coopers Inn. You see while I’m busy building up my small puzzle business, which is new and still requires quite a lot of reinvestment of income, our little family (Matt, myself and our 2 small boys) is supported by the pub. I’m pretty proud to be married to a guy who in these supremely stressful times didn’t hesitate to help someone he had never met before by letting him use our kitchen at the Coopers. Matt has helped Andrea to grow his new business which keeps him (and now a couple of other chefs in the same boat) going and making an income. @theage did a story on them yesterday and I’m just so proud of all involved I couldn’t help but share . . .
