24.01.2022 Welcome to our Oktoberfest Bier blog 4. - This time we visit the Package Bar. This will be the haunt of the beard strokers and clean shaven hipster craft bier drinkers. There will be five breweries represented here. We have two of the official Oktoberfest breweries, Hofbrau serving a Dunkel Lager and Hacker- Pschorr with their swing top bottles, providing us with a Dunkel lager and the powerful Dunkel Weisse ( dark wheat bier) The other breweries at this bar are the ones fam...ous for their Wheat biers. Firstly Schnieder Weisse, all they do is make wheat bier. Their unser original is a classic wheat bier, golden colour with a cloudy finish. Secondly, we have Franziskaner a brewery founded by the Franciscan order of monks in 1363. We have their Hefe Weissebier dunkel and the weissebier Hell. We have a few surprise biers on their way from Munich, details to follow in the next couple of weeks. From the package bar, tasters will be available with 4 cups each of 130ml of bier, two different flites will be available making 8 biers to be tasted. For the real pro hipster a TASTING LOUNGE will operate more on this in the coming weeks. Next in blog 5, we go back to the keg bar for more history lessons and we name a bier we are importing from Austria, not only for its great taste but also because it has the coolest can design going, first to guess this bier wins a FREE TICKET. PROST!!!!

20.01.2022 Aside from Trump running the free world the next most important thing on people’s minds is How do we get a BIER at Oktoberfest @PW1 on November 25th or 26th??? Welcome to our 'how Oktoberfest@PW1 will actually run' blog 3. Subject; STEINS and TOKENS.... TOKENS: After lining up & paying your entry, or for the smart punters with their pre purchased ticket moving quickly through the VIP entry you will receive your wrist band (and as Paul Simon says no wrist band no entry) proceed to the entrance where you will receive your Stein which is yours to keep. To defeat the Bier Queue Blues there will be no cash or card payments at the bars. All drinks will be purchased using TOKENS (think casino chips but better value). These tokens will be sold at 8 selling windows, and by a few lovely ladies roving the bier hall (cash only). $10.00 = 1 Token = 1 Drink = 500ml STEIN: The volume of the stein is 600ml with a 500ml line on the side. At the keg bar all the bier will be served in 570ml cups and can then be poured into your 600ml stein which has room for a head. Ordinarily, the 500ml would include the head we will give you 500ml PLUS the headsounds like value! The cider will be served in 500ml cups, then into the stein it goes (ice will be available) Now to the beard strokers haunt.. The Package Bar. At the Package bar the bier will be sold in 500ml bottles, most of the biers served here are the Wheat Biers and the Dark Lagers, for the best taste these require decanting, again the 600ml stein will be ideal for the whole bottle again. 1 TOKEN = $ 10.00 = 500ml Bottle (fully imported) = 600ml stein with 500ml bier and head = Good Value. At the wine bar we will be serving Sparkling, Sav Blac and Shiraz, all 1 token soft drink 2 for a token or a $5.00 note We will have 2 Complimentary water stations; A water trailer at the keg bar both for drinking and stein rinsing. At the Package bar, after drinking those cloudy Hefe Weizen biers and the Malty Dunkel Lagers, the beard stroking craft bier hipsters will need to rinse their stein and cleanse the palette.here will be the Kombi Keg Hobart dispensing water. Only a coupe of weeks to go FOOD BLOG SOON.and MUSIC. PROST

16.01.2022 Hi there Oktoberfesters, This is your bier blog for week 3. The PW1 shed will be turned into a great bier hall, we will be running two bars.... One will be a Package bar serving the beard stroker varieties of bier with a tasting area. The second will be the main attraction, a Keg Bar around 48 metres long serving five drinkable biers and one cider. This week we take a look at what’s on offer at the Keg Bar. We have four of the five exporting Oktoberfest breweries represented at the Keg Bar. Each week we will give you a bier drinkers guide to the history and the biers on offer.. This Week it is HOFRAU. Hofbrau is known as the king of biers. The Hofbrauhaus was founded in 1589 by Wilhelm V The Duke of Bavaria. We will be serve two biers from Hofbrau, the Original lager and the Dunkel (dark lager). The famous Hofbrau Original is a pale gold coloured lager bier. More than any other, Hofbrau Original embodies centuries of Munich brewing tradition, refreshing light and bitter flavoured, a/v 5.1% Dark bier existed in Bavaria long before the light lagers we are familiar with. Hofbrau Dunkel is the archetypal Bavarian bier, with its spicy taste, this is a refreshing bier that suits all tastes a/v 5.5%. Hofbrau embodies the special atmosphere of the bier capital of the world and lucky for us in Hobart exports to the four corners of the globe. (that’s for those who support Trump and believe the world is flat and square) Next week Something from the Package Bar.. PROST

13.01.2022 Welcome to Bier blog 5 Back to the Keg Bar, all 44 beautiful metres of it. Not a single hipster in sight.. Here we serve 5 different fully imported German biers and a CIDER. Does the cider come from Germany?. No way!!! Have you ever tasted the cider and white wine from there undrinkable to say the least.... The cider we have chosen is called Good Pickens, it is from the highlands of NSW. Why did we choose it? We were first served this cider at the Munich Brahaus in Melbourne as this cider is exclusively sold in German bars around Australia. Our resident young trendy in our management team thought it tasted great, smooth and easy to drink with a fresh taste, that was enough. We know there are plenty of great ciders in Tasmania however Good Pickens gives the punters something different to drink. Did I hear you say have you got enough cider?... does ONE HUNDRED & TWENTY kegs sound about right Now, back to last week the strange inclusion in our package bier range the only one outside Munchen. All the way from Salzburg in Austria we have Stiegl Golbrau. We think Stiegl has the coolest can going, they are 500ml and are 5.2% alc, sure to be a winner with all tastes. Well done Sam for guessing the Stiegl brand as the mystery bier, contact us for your free ticket. PROST

07.01.2022 Looks like your bier is going to be nice and cold

07.01.2022 This week we are talking German Bier styles... From the flanny wearing domestic beer drinking tradie through to the beard stroking hipster craft beer lover and, of course, all those lovely ladies out there, we have chosen a variety of bier styles for Oktoberfest at PW1 to suit all tastes during our recent tasting trip to Munich. The styles we have chosen are Helles, Pilsener, Dunkel, Weissbier and Dunkelweizen.... HELLES; (original larger) This is the bier style that typifies the greatness of Bavarian bier making, it is a straw blonde lager easy drinking, definitely a session style bier. PILSENER; Arguably the most successful bier style in the world, a very blond brilliantly clear moderately effervescent lager. Again a session style bier. DUNKEL; Dunkel biers are dark lager biers. They are Bavarian style biers that tend to be very malty with only a gentle hop accent and little bitterness. One for all tastes. WEISSBIER; Germany is famous for their cloudy wheat biers. Weissbier means white bier in German the name derives from the yellowish- white tinge that is imparted from the pale malted wheat from which the bier is made. One for the hipster beard strokers. DUNKELWEIZEN; This is the darkerversion of the golden yellow weissbier, it is made from wheat and barley malts but unlike the weissbier it also contains an array of caramelised malts which give it both its dark colour and complexity. Definitely one for the hipster beard strokers. SEE YOU AT Oktoberfest at PW1

06.01.2022 Thanks to the thousands who showed up over the past 2 days!!! Ready for an even better 2017!!

05.01.2022 big thanks to WIN News Tasmania for coming down to the Oktoberfest at PW1 launch!!

03.01.2022 See Oktoberfest @PW1 in The Mercury today??? The countdown begins!

03.01.2022 Welcome to the 2nd ‘How Oktoberfest @PW1 will actually run’ blog. This one is tuff TICKETING and ENTRY.... TICKETING: We have a number of issues we wish to cover here. For those who don’t know, the management of this event are in no way connected with anyone who has run or planned an Oktoberfest in Hobart (we support the ones run in bars and microbreweries across Hobart in OCTOBER this year, we think, the more the merrier) We would also like to say that we do not wish to judge, blame or comment on the previous management of the event. We would like all to move on from the past and look forward to this one, an Oktoberfest that will be a classic!!!! Pre-Purchased TicketsWow what do we say please read above us Tassie people just don’t do it. but to get in and quench that thirst quicker, we’d recommend it. The Ticketing agency we have engaged is Local Tickets. All the money from your pre-purchased tickets is held by them until AFTER the event which means we cant get our clean (or grubby) hands on YOUR money you’ve gotta be happy with that, like if the event didn’t happen (in the event of a Nuclear War or something) you get you hard earned cash back. The Bier has arrived it’s in Melbourneshe’s happening!!! ENTRY: This is where your pre-purchased ticket comes into play. There will be two entry points to Oktoberfest@PW1. Think Dark Mofo style, an entry for pre purchased (nice and quick), kinda VIP style and one entry for general admission (line up and risk the queues). The general admission line will have info boards to wet your thirst, we hope there won’t be too much time spent here but just in case, we suggest pre purchasing. When you hit the front there will be 8 ticket sellers taking cash or card. From the entry point you will receive your stein and wristband, (no wristband no drink) and proceed to the BIERHALLE can’t wait? neither can we!!! Did we forget to mention there is a major prize each day, only for pre-purchased ticket holdersworth it?? Yep, just you wait! Hope we have put to bed all the bad karma, next blogs much lighter, just about the bier, food, music and FUN plenty to come PROST!!!

02.01.2022 Welcome to our 'how Oktoberfest @PW1 will actually run' blog. Firstly, the management team running the 2016 Oktoberfest are in no way connected to previous Oktoberfest events run or planned for Hobart. The management company is Watershed Events Pty Ltd.... Topic 1: How to beat the bier queues? All drinks will be purchased using tokens, order a bier, get a bier, pass the token over, next please !! There will be eight booths selling tokens, both cash and card will be accepted. There will also be some lovely ladies selling tokens in a roving capacity, cash only. There will be an ATM on site. Topic 2: How many Bars will there be? Two main bars; The main attraction, a 44metre long Keg bar serving 5 different biers and a cider, with 44 taps and a minimum of 30 staff, sure to work well. Next the Package bar around 20metres long serving 500 ml bottles of fully imported German biers this area will incorporate a tasting lounge as well, 16 staff. Lastly the wine bar serving sav blanc, shiraz and soft drink. Topic 3: How to beat the Seating Blues. The organisers have been very fortunate to secure the rental of the trestle tables and bench seats used at the Taste of Tasmania which are owned by the HCC. We are very grateful to the HCC. We will be able to provide seating for over 3000 patrons, got to be happy about that. There will also be a great place to stand and rest your bier and have a feed. located down the centre of the shed will be a 21metre long dry bar’ which we believe will be the bench mark for a great layout in the shed at future events.
