21.01.2022 In Religious Education, Year 4 is learning about how Mary, Mother of God and Mary MacKillop listened to God and how the Church honours these special women. Students are learning Marian prayers devoted to Mary, have the opportunity to celebrate Mary MacKillops feast Day and are constructing biographies on these women in English. 19.01.2022 Today, OLA celebrated the Feast of Assumption. Students wore blue and raised money for the Charitable Works Fund (CWF) and the Catholic Education Fund (CEF). The students explored our Marian Charism by deepening their understanding of how the church honours Mary.

18.01.2022 Our MakerSpace has been running hot this term. Coding Club has been making the most of the space, whilst the Year 4's took over the area to build their Rube Goldberg machines.

17.01.2022 Year 3 welcomed the term back in style by walking in the shoes of another. Immersing themselves in the life of a refugee, each child took on a persona to see, think and wonder what it would be like to live in a refugee camp. Great work Year 3!

16.01.2022 Today we celebrated book week at OLA. We had many 'Curious Creatures' and 'Wild Minds'. The students participated in a book parade as well as having a zoom visit with the wonderful author, Deb Abela. Great job to all the children (and mums and dads) on your fabulous costumes.



16.01.2022 Year 5 students have been investigating how indigenous people used plants in their everyday living. Indigenous women used lomandra to weave fishing nets and dilly bags. Some students tried their hand at weaving using lomandra grass growing in our playground.

13.01.2022 This term Stage 3 are investigating sustainable cooking. Students are learning about what goes into producing and preparing healthy food and all the things we can do to avoid food waste. Stage 3 love being in the kitchen and trying a variety of new foods.

12.01.2022 A rainy Tuesday brings back memories of last term when we were lucky enough to engage in a virtual incursion by Science Space Wollongong on Bubbleology. All students were eager to create their own bubble wands and accepted the challenge to create the biggest bubble! Students designed and experimented with string, pipe cleaners and straws. 07.01.2022 Our Junior and Senior Spelling Bee finals were still able to go ahead with a fabulous zoom audience. Our finalists excelled in demonstrating their spelling abilities. Everyone was very impressed with the competitors growth mindset approach to the competition. Congratulations to our winners Leah and Alessandra.

05.01.2022 HAPPY WORLD TEACHERS' DAY! A big thank you to our amazing PERGOLA team and the OLA parents for making all the OLA staff feel so special. It was lovely to enjoy a beautiful lunch together while being COVID safe. Thank you children for all the special cards and notes, these will be treasured.

01.01.2022 Today OLA remembered all those who have died in war. We had a special prayer service and listened to last post and observed a minute silence. We ask God to pray for our fallen soldiers and keep them safe in God’s Kingdom.
