20.01.2022 Following on with our sculpture Monday’s the students studied Alberto Giacometti and his artworks. The students then had the opportunity to create their own sculptures using tinfoil. They first had to draw six stick figures; standing, running, excited, sad, comforting then a free choice. They then each had a piece of tin foil that they sectioned into legs, arm, torso and head which they then scrunched and transformed into their sculptures. They all did an amazing job.

15.01.2022 This week we explored the connection between and the importance of land and country to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as part of NAIDOC Day 2020. We created our own rainbow serpents after reading the Dreamtime story regarding the creation of trees, plants, animals and the environment, and discussed the importance of passing down knowledge of culture through things such as yarning circles, music, cave paintings and ceremonies. We tried our hands at 'Buroinjin' - a traditional throwing and passing game from the Yulunga Traditional Games - originally played with kangaroo skin sewn together and filled with grass! Collaboratively, we also worked to create a huge map of Australia

14.01.2022 R U OK? Old Bonalbo students today spent time today talking about and participating in activities on how important it is to check in on our friends and family regularly. Students looked at what makes a great friend and how it feels to have someone you trust and can talk to freely. They then decided to make pancakes to be able to share with each other and the staff to practise talking about a range of different things going on in their lives. It was a great day and lots of le...arning occurred. Please remember to check in on your friends and family regularly. It is so easy to get caught up in our own world and forget that we have people out there to help and support us or who need us to support and help them. Stay safe everyone!

13.01.2022 Happy Sunday everyone. Just a reminder that orders close 7th September. We would appreciate your support. Thanks

12.01.2022 We were unable to do the normal routine of our athletics carnivals this year so we had our own on the 11th September. It was a rainy day but the students still had a marvellous time showcasing their skills.

12.01.2022 P&C meeting Wednesday 25 November at 3:30pm at Old Bonalbo Hall followed by centenary meeting. All welcome.

11.01.2022 Surf Lifesaving NSW visited us this afternoon to give us pointers on how to make safe decisions in and around different water based environments. We learnt how to identify lifesavers and safety signs, and how to ask for help to keep ourselves safe. We also look at the dangers of a range of marine animals, and how to spot and survive a rip current. Thank-you Surf Lifesaving NSW for your expertise!

05.01.2022 What a crop of carrots! Now to make some yummy food with them! Today we planted some beetroot, capsicum, celery and tomatoes. Found a few worms and other insects in the soil which was nice and healthy. Looking forward to our summer crop.

05.01.2022 Friyay! And what. Friday to be happy about. Today we wound the week up with our book fair dressup day. The children (and parents/caters) did an amazing job of dressing up. On behalf of our students and staff I would like to say thank you to our parents and community members who supported our book fair and to those generous community members who donated money to ensure every student received novels and stationary items. I am truly thankful that these children live in such a generous and supporting community.

05.01.2022 While the seniors have been at Coffs Adventure Camp having a tonne of fun....the juniors have participated in the annual ALIA simultaneous story time. This year the book was give me space by Phillip Bunting and was read to the students by astronauts on the international space station! How cool is that!

03.01.2022 Thursday 17th September we had our bike safety day. Students were invited to bring their bikes and helmets to school. Students learnt about safety regarding riding on roads, protective wear (chalk drawings), maintenance of a bike and basic first aid. They participated in activities where they had to create a helmet for their brain (hard boiled egg) and test the helmet on a variety of surfaces and they completed a variety of obstacle courses on their bikes while trying not to run over Mr. Pig. The staff and students had a great day! Looking forward to more bike days at school.
