25.01.2022 St Joseph's College Under 15 Basketball team entered the Finals of the All Island Division 1 tournament winning easily the Quarter Final and the Semi Final, beating Maris Stella College and St Peter's College respectively, and now meet Gateway International School on the 13th of January at the St Peter's College courts. This match was to be played last thursday but was postponed due to rain and slippery courts. We have already won the Under 19 and Under 17 Championship and wi...ll make it 3 in a row with this Championship. In Rugby we have had three of our players selected to represent Sri Lanka Under 20 for the Asian Championship to be held in Singapore, winners of this tournament will qualify for the world championship to be held in Zimbabwe early next year. The second XI cricketers played a match against De Mazenod College, Kandana and drew same due to rain



24.01.2022 St Joseph's College recorded it's fourth outright win for the season in Cricket as Malshan Rodrigo and Harin Cooray bowled them to victory beating the rain at the Galle Stadium. At the end of the 3rd Term matches we have played 7 matches won 4 outright won 1 on the first innings, lost 1 on the first innings and 1 no decision as no play was possible on the second day due to rain which twarted us of a definite win. Rean Kelly leads the Run scorers with 229 runs follwed by Shevo...n Fonseka with 201 runs, in the Bowling Malshan Rodrigo leads with 41 wickets and Harin Cooray with 24 wickets. St Joseph's College will open the season for the first term with a tournament game with Zahira College, Maradana on thr 29th 30th Dec 2015 and the season proper will be from the 4th & 5th Jan 2016 as we host St Sebestian's College. 22.01.2022 We have played two matches against Zahira College which was a tournament game and St Sebestian's College a traditional fixture. Against Zahira we lost on the first innings after a top order collapse after a godd repair job done by he two Rodrigo's Captain Sandaruwan scoring a half century, however we fell at the post clinching a first innings win. We drew the match against st Sebestian's College which was played at the College grounds... St Joseph's will play thier longest rival Royal College in the 119th encounter on the 8th & 9th Jan at Reid Avenue and play thier 99th encounter with Wesley College on the 11th & 12th Jan at Darley Rd Last wins against these two teams 2005 against Royal and 2015 against Wesley. Jehan Daniel has been picked to represent Sri Lanka for the youth world cup to be held in Bangladesh in Jan/Feb and will not be available for the College till the Big match.

21.01.2022 Cricket took a back seat over the weekend due to the Inter House Athletic meet, where Marque House became champions with a clear lead, however on Sunday the Past Cricketers met Present Cricketers in thier Annual one day match for the Past Cricketers trophy, which was won by the the Past Cricketers. It was also encouraging to see some immediate Past Cricketers taking the field and off the field too there were Past Cricketers to support the Cricketers. Lalit de s Wijeyeratne ou...r Captain of 1968 handed over the trophy to another Past Captain Prasann Leanage who led the Past Cricketers. This week (Fri/Sat) we will be playing against St Anthony's College, Kandy for the Murali-Vaas Trophy which is named after the two great Sri Lankan Bowlers and the Highest wicket takers for Sri Lanka in International Cricket. A past Cricketers cap has been put out as the the Big Match closes up, Please buy your cap early as a limited stock is available Price Rs 500/= In Rugby the Fixtures are attached however the Venues are not yet known, please keep the dates free. 18.01.2022 St Joseph’s College beat with D S Senanayake College 80 points to 7 after leading 36 to nil at the half way mark in the Division 1 of the Schools Tournament match played at Longdon Place, St Joseph’s College scored 14 tries of which 5 were converted

15.01.2022 St Joseph's College retained the Gilmour Jayasuriya Memorial Trophy at the 112th encounter with S Thomas' College Mt Lavinia, and did well to beat the formidable Thomians on the first innings. However the second XI lost to them by 8 wickets. Nipun Sumanasinghe won the Man of the match award for his 93 runs. The Inter house sports meet events started with the Road Race on the 3rd and the other events too, are being worked out at present, with Marque house leading the way with... 157 points as of today. In Soccer St Joseph's College beat Wesley College 1 goal to Nil in the Under 19 Division A schools tournament, with Mayuraka Perera finding the net for Joes. St Joseph's College will meet Prince of Wales College in Cricket this week at the College grounds which is a tournament game, the match was shifted to College grounds from Moratuwa. The Rugby season gets off with the Schools Rugby sevens to be worked off at the Royal Rugby grounds this weekend.

13.01.2022 This week it's only Cricket as St Joseph's College recorded it's 3rd outright victory over the weekend against De Mazenod College. Left Arm spinner Malshan Rodrigo scored a half century and took 11 wickets for the match, and has 34 wickets for the season so far in 5 games. The Under 13 A team had a bad game, and the B team could not pull off the game at Moneragala falling short of few runs. The Josephian Colours nite will be held on Saturday 14th November at the College Sports Complex from 3.30 PM onwards with Angelo Mathews our National Cricket Captain as the Chief Guest



12.01.2022 St Joseph’s College won the Under 17 Zonal Championship by beating Hameed Al Hussain MV by 4 goals to 2, with this win the Under 17 team qualifies for the Provincial Tournament In the Under 15 and 19 Category, we were beaten at the Semi Final on Penalty shoot out Under 15 Semi Final lost to Hameed Al Hussain 4 to 3 on Penalties and beat Arethusa College 3 goals to Nil to clinch the 3rd Place Under 19 Semi Final lost to Zahira College 5 to 4 on Penalties and beat St Benedict...’s College 3 to Nil for the 3rd Place St Joseph’s College played against Maris Stella College, Negombo in the Quarter Finals of the Under 19 A Division All Island Soccer Championship at the FFSL grounds in Kelaniya and Lost 4 goals to 2 The Goal Scorers for St Joseph’s College were Sachintha Maduranga and Charaka Udayangama See more

12.01.2022 Cricket as it is takes the top of the week, as St Joseph's College played Trinity College at Asgiriya had to concede first innings and fought well to get a big score in the 2nd Innings, with Nipun Sumanasinghe top scoring with 77 not out. The Second XI match which was played on the College grounds we took the lead on the first innings over them. In Basketball we lost to Gateway International school 47 to 43 in a lively match for the Championship of the Under 15 All Island Isl...and Division 1 tournament to end as Runner up of the tournament and alsoto bring the curtain down for baskettball for 2015. St Joseph's College were the Champions for Under 19, Under 17 and Runner up for under 15, and was a goood year for basketball, let's congratulate the boys and the Coaching staff for the great year. We Lost to Kingswood College, Kandy in the Kothmale Chox Soccer tournament match 2 goals to 1 played at Kotte Soccer grounds 112th Cricket encounter for the Gilmour Jayasuriya trophy between St Joseph's and S.Thomas' College Mt Lavinia will be played on the 22nd & 23rd at Mt Lavinia.

11.01.2022 As planned we handed over the donation ($ 1,000) to Fr. Travis Gabriel - Rector of St. Joseph's on the 17th of December in his office. Fr. Rector was very appreciative and thankful about the donation and wanted to convey this to our members.

10.01.2022 Cricket Under 13, 2nd round continues after the 3rd term examinations as St Joseph's beat Kalutara Vidyalaya on the first innings and will have to beat President's College in their last match to be played tomorrow, to qualify for the Pre Qtr Finals The 10th Cricket Academy passing out was held on the 30th November at the College grounds with Fr Rector as the Chief guest and also with the presence of Cricket Committee members, and the future looks good with the talent seen on ...that day. In Basketball the Under 15 AllIsland Division 1 tournament is on at the College courts as SJC has been drawn Asian International School, Lyceum International School and Kokuvil Hindu College, we have already won against the first two named schools, and will be playing Kokuvil Hindu College today. if we win against them we will qualify for the Qtr Final of the tournament

05.01.2022 St Joseph's College had a severe hiccup over the weekend when they lost to St Benedict's College by innings and surrended the Mack Croner trophy to them. St Joseph's College was all out for the Lowest total for a Josephian team in the series. In Swimming the Josephians started the year with a Bang by winning the Ambalangoda sea swim and the Novices Swimming meet And in Soccer St Joseph's College was placed 3 in all age groups in the Circuit Soccer tournament



02.01.2022 St Joseph's College concluded the Cricket season after the loss to Ananda College in the Schools Lemonade Trophy Limited over Knock out tournament. St Joseph's College played this match sans 5 players due to injury and some players not attending practices. The Under 17 and Under 15 Season will start in May 2016. In Rugby we lost to S Thomas' College after 3 years together with the Lady Jayatileke shield at Longdon Place going down by 32 to 3 points, and on the 2nd April St Joseph's College clash with Trinity College at the Trinty College Rugby Stadium Pallekele. Nuvinu Perera was the Champion Swimmer in this Category.
