01.01.2022 FRIDAY FLASHBACK The 1920 AGS Running Team. A year after the Spanish Flu Pandemic. We will return. Keep going. From the 1920 Grammarian: The Combined Sports of 1920 will go down in the annals of the Associated Grammar Schools as being one of the finest and most exciting contests of its kind ever witnessed on the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) , the interest of the large crowd that attended the meeting being maintained to the last event. The meeting, as usual, was held unde...r the auspices of the V.A.A.A., and an added interest was given to the sports on account of it being the first year of competition for the handsome challenge cup so generously donated by The Age and "Leader". The School has every reason to be proud of the splendid performance of their team, which not only gained second place, but succeeded in winning more events straight out than any other school competing. To these successes must be added the brilliant feat of the Under 16 Relay Race team, which established a new record for its race. Out of the twenty events, the team gained five first, two second, eight third, and three fourth places, a very creditable performance indeed! #tonners #bgs #obgs #resilience #pandemic #itsoknottobeok See more
