22.01.2022 Every year around Anzac Day, Carey and the OCGA honour our OCGs who served and died in World War II. At this year's Anzac Day Memorial Service, we remembered Squadron Leader George Richard Taylor DFC (1936). George was killed in action on 13 August 1941, when his aircraft was shot down during a bombing raid on Berlin. He was 23 years old. After the service in the newly renovated William Carey Chapel, we heard from current staff member Dira Lok about his experiences as an a...ctive serving member of the Army Reserves. 19.01.2022 Carey's Pride Week activities have gone virtual this year, as we celebrate inclusivity and diversity in our community! Here’s a short snippet of the Q&A we held that involved current and past Pride Group members talking about the importance of Carey’s Pride Group and how it has evolved over the last few years.

17.01.2022 The OCGA recently hosted its first online international alumni event last week, facilitated by Fiona Hu (2016), the OCGA’s International Alumni Representative. Carey alumni came together to hear from Andy Xu (2016) talk about his experience working at a Big Four accounting firm in Shanghai. Andy shared how to maximise opportunities at university, tips for gaining an internship or a graduate position and, once there, how to make the most of the experience. ‘I want to say how a...mazing a speaker was on Saturday. My daughter who is second year at university listened to a speaker talking about their career at Deloitte and tips on what you should do at university. It was a light bulb moment for my daughter. She came away really excited about her course and could see her future, and she has applied for a three-day session at Deloitte as well! What a great thing in a really bleak time. Thank you.’ from the mum of one of the Carey alumni who attended the event. The OCGA is all about facilitating connections between alumni and giving them opportunities to learn from each other, even across global boundaries. We were delighted to receive such positive feedback.
17.01.2022 In a year of historic events, the OCGA celebrated it's first ever online 40+ Years Reunion. Hosted by the new OCGA President, Cassandra Trumble (93), OCGs from all around Australia and the world were treated to a conversation with Carey's new Principal, Jonathan Walter. With over 70 attendees, this event was a wonderful success, allowing members to connect with each other, the OCGA and Carey. As COVID normal sets in, stay connected to the OCGA for future online events by visiting www.ocga.com.au

09.01.2022 The Year 12’s have had a rough year in 2020 and they could use some inspiration. As you can probably imagine, many are anxious about their results and what life will look like for them next year. If you have recently graduated from school (in the last 5 years or so) we would love your help! Please send us a short video (no more than 5 minutes) and let us know the following: What have you been doing since school?... Did you end up changing your mind/plan/course? How did you manage the transition from school to life beyond school? What advice do you have for our current Year 12 students? Please send your video to [email protected] by Monday 31st September.
05.01.2022 Last Friday night, we hosted the Classes of 1990 and 1991 30 Year Reunion. The night started with a tour of the school, drinks and canapes, and continued at the Auburn Hotel until late in the evening! We loved seeing the excitement and nostalgia as old friends and teachers reconnected and reminisced about their time at Carey. To ensure you don't miss out on your reunion or upcoming events, go to https://ocga.com.au/ocd.aspx and update your details.
