09.01.2022 This beautiful American Calendar Clock has quite the story and its current owner, Barnes, graciously shared the provenance with us. The clock is first traced back to Barnes’s great, great, grandfather a Dr Gardiner, from Kentucky, USA who brought the clock with him to Washington State in 1880’s where he set up practice as a Dentist. This clock hung on the wall in his dentistry practice. In 1905, Barnes’s great grandmother, Gussy, then aged 19, travelled in a covered wago...n on her own to Napa, California; the clock travelling with her. Gussy died in the early 1980’s and Barnes’s Grandmother, Margie inherited the clock and it had hung in her kitchen up until late last year when Margie passed away. Barnes has fond memories of this clock in his grandmother’s kitchen. After travelling to California last Christmas, Barnes is now the 4th generation to hold this beautiful clock and we were proud to restore it. It is always such a pleasure for us to work on such interesting clocks and to know of their history. For those of us so enamoured by antiques, it is this history, and wondering what these items have seen in their lifetime, that really draws us in. And who could not love sassy 19-year-old Gussy, defying social conventions and bravely traversing the country on her own in 1905. What a woman she must have been! We would like to thank Barnes for so generously sharing his story with us and allowing us to share it with you. We felt it was too precious a story to keep to ourselves.

07.01.2022 Remember the clock movement the Maestro restored? It’s now tucked safely back into this beautifully polished 1850’s clock case. Brass finials polished and dial unrestored (he listened to wifeys nagging). He’s so clever I might just keep him . This clock is now ready for a new home. Please inbox for details.

06.01.2022 The new shop was put to good use last weekend as The Maestro celebrated a special milestone birthday. Who needs a crowd to have a party right?! He was supposed to be celebrating in Las Vegas after his dream trip across Route 66. Alas, that’s for another year. We look forward to welcoming you into the new shop when you come, although there’s no party food left . Sorry!

03.01.2022 We do love happy customer’s. Some socially distanced shopping took place for this lovely couple who snapped up this beautiful regulator and a carriage clock to boot. It’s always a pleasure meeting great people who share our love of these treasures. If you’d like to make an appointment to visit the new shop please call Eddie on 0418 515 189.
