25.01.2022 Congratulations Shayla & Zachery! Wishing you a lifetime of love & happiness together!

23.01.2022 We had a message left on our answering machine from a very enthusiastic potential volunteer, but unfortunately there was a few numbers missing from the phone number. If that was you, we would love to get in contact with you, so feel free to inbox us on here or try to call us again. Also if there are any other enthusiastic potential volunteers out there, we would love to hear from you too!

23.01.2022 The Farm Contractors Shed at the Eastern end of Old Gippstown was constructed in 1971 to house a variety of farm equipment that had been donated to the park from throughout the region. The largest piece of machinery on display is the Clayton and Shuttleworth thresher, it was manufactured in England, imported to Melbourne and used on properties throughout Gippsland. It was last used by the Silcock family in Hazelwood before being donated. This thresher was used in conjunction... with a large steam powered engine to thresh grain into wheat and other cereals, in the early 1900s it was the height of farming technology. *Edit: We had a photo of the Thresher on its way to Old Gippstown sent to us, we have posted it in the comments. Would you like to see more machinery from the Farm Contractors shed? What other parts of Old Gippstown would you like to see while we are closed to the public for the time being? #farm #farmequipment #historicfarm #claytonandshuttleworth #oldgippstown #gippslandheritagepark #gippsland #gippslandhistory #vintagethresher #thresher #vintagefarmingequipment #vintagefarming See more

23.01.2022 Remember you can donate toys for the Gippsland Motorcyclists Toy Run at the Gippstown Cafe/Old Gippstown office to be passed on to kid's who need an extra reason to smile this Christmas. The toy run rounds up at Old Gippstown next Saturday the 5th of December around 11:30am, so get your donations in before then! We have been blown away by the generous gifts given by locals so far, check out our stories to see our present pile so far!

18.01.2022 This bridal party were so gorgeous, but check out the livery stables behind them, what a backdrop!

18.01.2022 Our Volunteers and staff work tirelessly to preserve the history we have on display at Old Gippstown for future generations to enjoy for years to come.

17.01.2022 We refer to this building as the Bushy Park Out Kitchen at Old Gippstown, but in reality this slab construction cottage was built in Ripplebrook in 1880 as a home for a single female land owner. In our park it represents the kind of out kitchen farmhands and servants would prepare meals for the main house in and where they would eat their meals.

14.01.2022 School Excursions at Old Gippstown, fun and educational for students of all ages!

13.01.2022 **FOUND** Thanks everyone! Do you know this (crazy) woman? This woman came to our Halloween event last year (2019) and did an incredible job playing the role of an insane asylum escapee. We believe she is from Rosedale way & may belong to some kind of theater group. If you have any leads, inbox or comment. And please share!

12.01.2022 The Sinking of the Emden The anniversary has just slipped by of the sinking of the German raider Emden by HMAS Sydney. The Gippsland connection is that its whis...tle was given to / acquired by John Monash, who in turn presented it to the township of Yallourn. For many years it was the sound heard across the area for regulation of the day. When Yallourn closed, the whistle was transferred to Old Gippstown, where it can still be seen. Somewhere I have audio of it - I will see if I can find it and load it. EDIT - terry beat me - it is now in the comments. Thank you TKH. (Thanks Terry Hore)

11.01.2022 This miners hut was located in the old Tanjil Goldfields on the Tanjil river, about 10kms from Moe. It's a small, rectangular bark hut with a bark roof that was replaced when it was restored at Old Gippstown. It has a simple timber frame, a dirt floor and a fireplace and chimney that are made of corrugated iron with a stone base. Huts like this served as homes for many early Australian settlers, but this particular hut was home to 2 miners in the early 1900s. The huts were ve...ry privative and meet only the most basic needs. This miners hut has a timber and hessian bed, a simple set up to cook in the open fire place and authentic antique tools used in the day to day life of a miner on display inside. photo credit: Tammy Lee Photography See more

02.01.2022 Does any one know anything about this photo of the Clayton and Shuttleworth Thresher we posted about yesterday being loaded up to come to Old Gippstown in 1968. We would like to identify the men in the photo and the building it is taken in front of. If you have any information let us know!
