12.01.2022 OHAFCLotto Draw 3 from Hawaii!!
11.01.2022 Where Are They Now? - Garry Phillips Garry Phillips was a slightly built former champion of the club who came straight from Haileybury Colleges First XVIII in 1986. Between 1986 and 1998 Garry played 160 games shared between the Under 19s and Senior side. Phillips school side was a successful group having finished runners up to Xavier in the 1985 APS season. This inevitably led to the large group of boys sticking together and coming down to the Old Haileybury Football Club.... One of which was Garrys good mate and former OHAFC ruckman Mark Orton, who he credits as being his favourite teammate to play alongside. Individually, Garry was a very handy player having won two senior best and fairest awards in 1987 and 1997 as well a being a runner up in 1995. In addition, he also was a VAFA Representative on six occasions and an Old Haileybury Life Member. However, Garrys on field brilliance was not limited to the VAFA. Between 1989 and 1992 Garry played for the Geelong Football Club under Malcolm Blight in a successful period for the club. Playing alongside AFL greats such as Gary Ablett Senior, Billy Brownless and Garry Hocking. Phillips has fond memories of rooming with Ablett Snr in Toronto on a football trip and playing in the curtain raiser for 1989 Grand Final which is often dubbed the best of all-time. Some of his best football memories were had down at the Old Haileybury Football Club. During his time, the club spent a bit of its time yo-yoing in between the A and B grade competition. Having been relegated from A-Grade at the conclusion of 1994 season despite winning a healthy amount of games, an opportunity arose for his talented team. In 1995 Garry was a member of the B-Grade Premiership side. Off-Field, he remembers his younger years being full of fun alongside some great mates; a cocktail party hosted by David Southgate in Garrys early years is one of those events that is still looked back on fondly. Phillips contribution to the club was not limited to his on-field exploits having also contributed extensively in roles as the Vice-President and a committee member also. Currently, Garry lives in Warragul after returning from Sydney where he lived for 8 years for work. Upon his return to Victoria, the Gippsland town seemed fitting as it was close enough to the city to allow for an easy commute if needed, in close proximity to a good school for his kids in St Paul Anglican Grammar School and was home to many of his wifes friends. Garry has a son and daughter who both are successful footballers. His daughter Zoe plays her football down at Warragul and his son Fraser recently got drafted by Carlton making him a third generation AFL footballer. Phillips currently works for the publicly listed energy provider AGL where he is mostly based down at the Loy Yang power station. Although most of his weekends are filled with his kids sports when given the chance Garry is also a single-figure golfer and keen surfer.
10.01.2022 Vale Andrew Andy Williams. The OHAFC mourns the passing of club stalwart Andrew Williams who passed away yesterday after a long illness battle. Andy Will, as he was affectionately known, was the consummate clubman. He played 213 games for the club between 1968 and 1980, winning the clubs Best & Fairest in only his second year. He was a member of the 1969 Senior and 1973 Premiership teams and was made a Life Member in 1980. He played in the midfield early in his career be...fore later moving to the forward line. Andy was a great team player hard at the ball and always prepared to look after his mates. Renowned for his penetrating drop kicks, he was also a bit superstitious, preferring to be the last player on the ground. He confided in having a great love for the game and OHAFC players that came after him were buoyed by the support he gave over many years. He was a part of a keen and vocal group that appreciated the 120 minutes of play on the field and the off field post-mortem nearly as much. And Andy would invariably be an integral part of that keen discussion. Always with a smile on his face, he could talk about footy forever, and especially the OHAFC which he loved so much. Andy will be sadly missed by everyone associated with the club. Our thoughts are with Andys wife Robin and family. See more

04.01.2022 Old Haileybury, like so many organisations, has some extreme funding challenges ahead of it regardless of whether a season progresses or not. Even if no season occurs, the Club will be charged with 25% of a full years registration fees for 4 teams as well as various other insurance costs. If a season is able to resume, the costs involved will be considerably more. Despite the seasons uncertainties, It was with great pleasure that this week we have announced that Andrew Bon...wicks Company BDEL Body Corporate have renewed their sponsorship of the club this season for which we are very grateful. Please contact Bonners on 0407 714 270 if you would like some friendly advice with respect to Body Corporate Management. We would love to hear if any other people would like to support the club as we try to uphold the spirit of the Hearts and Bloods in difficult times. 01.01.2022 Hello from Old Haileybury Amateur Football Club and we hope you are keeping well. The VAFA have yet to decide on whether a Return to Play (RTP) will be possible for this footy season. They will be meeting on June 22 to review Victorian Government Health guidelines and AFL Vic protocols but have flagged that if a RTP is possible, they are targeting a July 25th resumption. This week however, the club has resumed club endorsed training sessions at our Princess Park home in Caul...field. Training numbers are restricted to groups of 20 players, require minimum 1.5m of distancing between players at all times and we enforce appropriate health checking and hygiene issues before, during and after training. Whilst some of the rules are different at the moment, its great to see the players re connecting in larger groups and loving having a kick of the pill again. The non contact training is being run under the watchful eye of Senior mens coach Daniel Ward, Womens Coach Wayne Oswald and our fitness and Physio guru Av Kumar. Old Haileybury legend Andrew Hicks will be some where close as well In the mean time, if any other existing or new players would like to join the groups for training and much needed (Covid-19 compliant) social interaction on a Tuesday or Thursday night, please contact Daniel Ward on 0403 986 011 as we need to coordinate training times and group numbers to comply with current Covid-19 protocols.
