25.01.2022 Kitchen well on the way to its 1920’s original space, curtains and floorboards yet to be done

20.01.2022 Just a small update on the front of the old post office roof which is completed and looking fresh. The colours are matching the existing house colours and this will be completed in the next few weeks. The front door has one coat to go, then the exterior walls are to follow. The original screen door is being restored and repainted to match.

20.01.2022 So now we are moving onto the rebuilding of the laundry and kitchen along with some serious new piers under the house to improve the drainage. While this is being done by our wonderful carpenter/builder we have been searching for the right paint to match the heritage colours that are still intact on the front roof eaves. This colour combination has turned out to be as close as we can get to the originals, Dulux Apple green, Cottage green and Lime white. Traditionally these colours are suited to Australian Victorian houses so we have decided to keep this colour scheme going. It is timeless and classic and will bring the house to life over the winter months as we begin the painting of the exterior.

20.01.2022 As we enter a New Year we enter a new phase for The Old Jamberoo Post Office. We are aiming to restore the garden this year, front and back which will include many traditional plants and cottage favourites. Over the last few months, the laundry has been completely restored and is just awaiting a coat of paint to complete the work. We will be posting more regular updates this year to keep friends up to date with the current works,. Inside the house, at the moment we are slowly painting the living room ceiling which has intricate Victorian decorative panels and is slow work but worth the effort. The original fireplace will be reinstated along with an original Kauri pine mantelpiece and surround from the turn of the century. Pictures to follow in a month or so when it has been reinstated. 10.01.2022 So the original hallway from 1880 is now completed with fresh paint and the doors nearly completed. Floors will be coming in the near future.

07.01.2022 Welcome to the Old Jamberoo Post Office page. We will be documenting the progress of the restoration of this wonderful house. We have decided to share with the Jamberoo Community and our friends the progress over the last couple of years and whats happening now.

06.01.2022 Just a little update on the winter improvements to the Old Post Office. While the weather has been so beautiful we have been finalising the colours for the exterior of the house. We have finally gone with heritage originals colours in Lime White, Cottage Green and white windows. This will bring a fresh and cottage look to the house similar to how it was. At the back of the house we have had the laundry rebuilt and repaired and also some drainage work and floor joists replaced... as over the years they had become lower than ground level. This has taken a while and a lot of dirt removal. The tiling is now complete in the laundry and interior fitting will go in over the next couple of weeks. As many of you may have noticed the original front path tho the front door has been beautifully renewed and the front fence and gate will also be installed over the coming weeks. This will provide the boundary for the new flower garden to come this Spring. Hope everyone is enjoying the updates, See more
