23.01.2022 OLD MATE goes to town...

20.01.2022 Starting to feel like a regular at Old Mates Farm. We are home from another enjoyable four days experiencing this beautiful part of the world.

17.01.2022 Update 22/04/21 11.00am We have not had any rain since lunch time yesterday. The farm is drying out nicely, the roads, tracks and campsites are as accessible as... they normally are. The farm looks beautiful at the moment with the Barron River and Moran Creek flowing nicely. The weather forecast has also improved with the trough not expected to push inland. The BOM rain radar shows very few small showers on land, with most rain activity out at sea. So we are all good to go for camping this weekend. Cancellations are now at the choice of the campers. In this instance we will still offer Camp Credit, but not Refunds. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Folks Just an update on the weather and ground conditions on the farm. We mowed the property yesterday and we are ready for the weekend. However, it has rained steadily overnight and is continuing to rain now. So the ground conditions are wet and not great for camping at the moment. We need to wait and see what happens over the next couple of days. We will only close as a last option as we know people are looking forward to visiting the farm. If it is still too wet on Thursday, we will offer Camp Credit or a Refund for this weekend. Your choice. On a brighter note... Some new arrivals on the farm this week. 1927 Morris Oxford 1954 Farmall Tractor - Tricycle style. Both are running and ready for a restoration one day. Just waiting for the old girl to calm down a bit. She doesn't share the necessity to full up every space on the farm with old stuff. But the way we are going, I think we are going to need a bigger farm...

17.01.2022 Time to go camping... COVID-19 restrictions have been eased and we will reopen Friday 12 June. Numbers will be limited and we will utilise the space on the far...m to allow people to spread out and keep their social distance. Unfortunately the afternoon group animal feeding will have to be put on hold until restrictions are eased further. You can come up any time during the day and say hello to the animals. Bookings now being taken for future dates in 2020, including school holidays and long weekends. Please email [email protected] Photos attached of some new arrivals: The Cobb & Co guys have checked in to the Deep Creek Hotel with a buggy (blue) and a sulkie (green). Both about 100 years old. The horses are stabled out the back at Old mates. Old mate needed to buy a reliable ute in good condition. This will do the job just nicely. (1950ish Ford Prefect). A couple of old Fergie tractors. The flash red paint doesn't make them go any faster. .

16.01.2022 Lou and I have just returned to the farm after enjoying a Aussie summer beach holiday. Thank you to Deb & Pete for looking after the farm and our guests for us ...whilst we have been away. There is good news and the bad news..... Good news - Its been raining and everything is beautiful and green. The waterfall and Moran creek are running, and the Barron river is also flowing nicely. The animals have full tummies with all the new feed around. Bad news - Its been to wet to mow and tidy the property up. And there is still persistent rain keeping us from getting into this work. So, we will be closed until we can tidy the property up and we are sure that the creek and river crossings will remain accessible. At this stage it looks like we will remain closed for the Australia Day weekend. We apologise to all the people we have had to cancel. Its not a decision we take lightly when know people are looking forward to visiting the farm and the animals - particularly the children. If we are able to reopen on say Friday, we will post again on FB and let you know. Priority will be given to the cancelled bookings.

10.01.2022 Check out this awesome ‘goat cubby’. This is at ‘Old Mates Farm’ and is going to be 3 stories high giving these animals a 360 degree view of this beautiful property! Hopefully they aren’t scared of heights!!!

09.01.2022 Our first stay. Thank you Tony and Lou. What a magnificent place you have. Thank you for sharing your part of the world with us. We were very impressed with your hospitality and grateful the level of care you have for your property, animals and guests. We will be back.

07.01.2022 They're BIG! Clydesdales. "Apollo" (13yo) and "Amazing Grace" (2yo) arrived to live on the farm this weekend. ... They seem to be loving their new surrounds and meeting all the members of the Farmily. I think our feed bill just doubled. (Thanks to Sue Martin for parting with her best friends).

07.01.2022 Thanks for an awesome few days! Happy and tired adults, kids, dogs and horses!! We so enjoyed being able to bring the horses with us and spending hours on your beautiful trails! We will be back soon!

02.01.2022 Breaking news. Ruby has finally had a baby. 7.15am today. It’s a boy! Waiting to see if there is another one coming. What shall we call him?... Edit: We have a pair. She will be called Ruby Princess. We will select the name for the boy tomorrow night, so keep your suggestions coming. Edit 2: After meetings, lengthy deliberation, deep consideration, irrational argument and eventual compromise after mediation, we have decided he shall be REUBEN. Thanks for all the contributions.
