25.01.2022 HOT WEATHER ALERT! With summer just round the corner, it is important to be aware of how quickly the heat can affect our canine friends. A good way to check if the ground is too hot is to hold the back of your hand on the pavement and if you cannot keep if there for 5 seconds its too hot!... Heat stroke is serious for your pet and can be fatal. What to look for? *Excessive panting *Dry, pale gums *Increased salivation *Weakness If your doggo friend is showing these signs as the weather is heating up then immediately contact us immediately on 8322 4355 or the Emergency Centre.

18.01.2022 Attention to clients using the following behavioural modifying medication for their pets: PROZAC; LOVAN; FLUOXETINE; APO-FLUOXETINE; ZACTIN: We have recently received notification that there is a shortage of this medication, which will directly impact our supply. If your pet is on this medication, we will be able to provide you with an external script to collect from human pharmacies. HOWEVER please be aware that human treatment will take precedence over supply for animals/ve...terinary purposes, and you may need to consider changing your pet over to a more readily available medication. We apologise for this inconvenience, however it is unfortunately out of our control. 12.01.2022 Grass seed season is here! This nasty grass seed was plucked under sedation from the ear of a very sad Odin (pictured here). Needless to say he is now feeling much better! Grass seeds can become lodged in lots of places including ears, skin, behind the eyeball, in the nose, between the toes and even in the **ahem** private parts of your dog or cat. Your pet does not have to have a long shaggy coat to have issues with these sticky little friends. To avoid a sudden and unexpect...ed vet bill: - Check your dog or cat over regularly, particularly around the feet. Keep them well brushed to prevent grass seeds penetrating their skin. - Only walk your dog where there are minimal grass seeds (the beach or at an oval). - Keep your grass at home mowed short and watered (if possible) to avoid them forming. If your cat is allowed to roam, be especially mindful of the areas around your property. If you are ever concerned that your pet may have a grass seed lodged somewhere, please contact the clinic asap!
