25.01.2022 ***New Price*** - 1990 Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible We have a price reduction on our Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible to $34,950. This beautiful Jaguar XJ-S presents and drives really well.... The Jaguar racing green paintwork is most likely original and in good condition with minor blemishes consistent with its age. The soft top opens and closes smoothly. Inside the cabin everything also looks to be very original with patina consistent with a well cared for car that is almost thirty years old. The leather seats show some minor wear, but the dash, timber, steering wheel, instruments and controls are all in very good condition. After driving this car we can say that we really get what the XJ-S V12 convertible is all about. The car is really smooth on the road and it is a fabulous cruiser. Put the top down and we think the car looks stunning . . . it has a real presence on the road and it provides open top motoring in the most refined way. And yet with that V12 under the bonnet it has that edge that makes a Jaguar special! This big cat does everything one would expect out on the open road. It is effortless to drive and it goes about its business in the most refined manner. It is a very easy and comfortable car to drive. The engine has loads of power on tap, the gearbox is smooth and the car handles and stops with purpose. The Jaguar XJ-S has been somewhat of a sleeper in the classic car world. Its hard to believe that the early cars are now in excess of forty years old! The secret is out about the XJ-S and these cars are now becoming sought after by enthusiasts and collectors. Quite frankly these big cats offer a huge amount of car for the money. There are plenty of XJ-S out there but they are hard to find in this condition. 22.01.2022 For Sale - 1969 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 This particular car was delivered new into Torino, Italy to its first owner a Mr Schreiber in June 1969. The car was sold by RM Sothebys at their 2015 Monterey sale and the following history is an extract from their auction catalogue: The car offered here was built to European specifications, with left-hand drive and metric instruments, and it was delivered through Torino dealer Italcar S.A. to a local resident, Mr. Schreiber, in June 1969.... It was registered as TO D 09929 and serviced and maintained by the Ferrari Factory Assistenza Clienti at Viale Trento Trieste in Modena. At some point in the early 1970s, the car was exported to the U.S.A. and was acquired in 1974 by Richard S. Scarpellini, of St. Louis, Missouri, who drove it in the FCA Tour de Saint Louis in nearby Westport in September of that year. In 1979, it passed through Foreign Cars Italia of North Carolina to Jim Francis, of Roanoke, Virginia, and then to David G. Seibert, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Fred Von Basedow, of Moline, Illinois. Von Basedow apparently owned the car until the late 1980s, when it was acquired by Ralph D. Crosby Jr., of California. Mr. Crosby displayed the car at the Newport Beach Concours dElegance in 1995, by which time it was reported to have undergone a complete restoration, including a bare-metal repaint in black, with new leather interior, carpeting, and headliner installed. When sold in 1997, it had reportedly completed only 2,000 miles since its completion. Well-preserved since and reportedly still fully matching-numbers, including its original engine, this is a handsome example of a comfortable, powerful, adept grand tourer, offered with its original tool kit, owners manual, and jack. Whilst the car is an older restoration it still presents beautifully today. The jet black paint work has a high gloss and strong depth of colour. The tan leather upholstery is gorgeous and essentially like new. The big V12 starts relatively easily on this car and it idles smoothly, though we suspect it could do with a service and quite possibly a good old Italian tune would do the job! Whilst the 365 GT 2+2 is often referred to as the Queen Mary due to its size, the car belies that when you are behind the wheel. Make no mistake the 365 GT 2+2 is a quick car that would be the ideal mode of transport to blast from Paris to Rome back in the day. Price - AUD $399,950. 14.01.2022 For Sale - 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk 1 "barn find / restoration project" The Aston Martin build sheets and factory records on file confirm that this example was sold on the 16th May 1955 into London SW1 in the UK. The car was delivered new in black with a beige interior. The records note five subsequent owners and significant maintenance works carried out regularly through until May 1966. The car looks to have had an interesting early life and there is a notation on the 30th... November 1959 stating:T type block replaced. The car was sold and imported into Australia around 1974 and there is a NSW registration certificate on file dated the 9th of September 1975 in the name of Lance Hill from Bowral in the NSW highlands. Mr Hill was an old school gentleman racer and antique store owner who had a passion for collecting cars. Interestingly, this car was sparingly used and it remained parked up in a shed for almost 40 years covered in leaves and dust! Unfortunately Mr Hill passed away in 2018 and the car was sold from his estate in late 2019 as a real barn find to a classic car enthusiast in northern NSW. The new owner started to disassemble the car but didnt get far and progress stopped due to his ill health. Soon after purchasing the car the engine was started but it was found to have a blown head gasket which was probably the reason why it was parked up all those years ago! Apart from the removal of some loose debris and leaves the car is presented today as it was when removed from its storage shed after 40 years of slumber in 2019. Highlights: - Incredibly original and it may well retain its original paint and trim. - Underwent an engine block change, most likely in November 1959, which is very common for these early Aston Martins. - Importantly, it still retains a period correct Aston Martin block and its original Aston Martin ID plate. - Accompanying the car is its original Aston Martin DB2/4 handbook, workshop manuals, Aston Martin build sheets & factory records, an original MOT from 1973, some period photos and its original NSW registration certificate from 1975. 08.01.2022 For Sale - 1969 Maserati Ghibli The car was imported into Australia in 1973. There is a copy of the Melbourne Harbour Trust Commissioners Port of Melbourne wharfage document on file, dated 9th September 1973, which confirms the car was imported by Mr Mozzone Gianluigi from East Bentleigh (Melbourne) in Victoria. The car was loaded at the port of Genoa in Italy and it arrived into Melbourne aboard the Fresenburg. The car was acquired by two well known classic car enthusiasts... during the 1980s and at that time it was yellow. The car has subsequently passed through three owners with the last owner having acquired the car at a Shannons Sydney auction in January 2007. At that time the car was in need of some work and its new owner sent it to respected Melbourne based classic Maserati specialist Mario Lombardi. Over the next six months a considerable sum of money was spent mechanically freshening up the car. There is an excellent history file with extensive receipts for work done over the years confirming that this car has been meticulously maintained and improved throughout its life. The most significant work undertaken was an engine rebuild in 2007. New Michelin XWX tyres were fitted two years ago. Since being acquired by Oldtimer Australia the car has been given a major service and tune by classic Maserati specialists Auto Sprint in Melbourne.
