17.01.2022 Beautiful words and images via @momentaryhappiness on @ruokday. One conversation could change a life

10.01.2022 Quality sleep is SO important for good health. Many of us think it’s ok to deprive ourselves of sleep only to use caffeine and stimulants the next day to keep us going. Unfortunately this kind of behaviour long term is detrimental to our health as sleep allows the body AND mind to perform the routine maintenance it can’t do while we're awake Having good quality regular sleep has a number of benefits, including: Enhancing memory Maintaining a healthy weight... Lowering food cravings, especially sugar! Protects against cancer and dementia Improves immune function Lowers risk of heart attack, stroke and diabetes Improves mood and overall feeling of happiness Reduces depression and anxiety Scientific studies have determined that 7-9 hours of sleep is ideal! The term sleep hygiene refers to a series of healthy sleep habits that can improve your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep. Try to include some of the following sleep habits before bed: Avoid screens 1 1.5 hours before bed, this includes mobile phones, iPads, TVs, computers/laptops. Consider blue blocking glasses. I love the ones from @baxterblue_. Blue light interferes with melatonin production the hormone that makes us sleepy. Turn off your Wi-Fi at night or put your mobile on airplane mode. Even better keep it out of the bedroom if possible. Keep lights low and dim after the sun goes down, use lamps or dimmers on bigger lights in your home. I have got into the habit of lighting candles. Start a nightly routine to help you relax before bed and prepare for sleep (e.g. meditation, take a bath, read a real book). No coffee or stimulants after 1pm as caffeine can affect the body for up to 8 hours. This also includes black/green tea, chocolate and energy drinks. Try to be in bed before 10:00pm if possible. Going to bed after midnight reduces the amount of restorative sleep you get. Supplements and herbs have been clinically proven to help with sleep onset, sleep maintenance and improving restorative sleep patterns. Individualsed herb tonics can be used while investigating the cause of your poor sleep. One or two nights of poor sleep is nothing to worry about but if it continues longterm understanding the potential cause of WHY you’re not sleeping well is so important - for example could it be nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, high stress levels or poor diet choices? The best way to get to the bottom of this is with a qualified health professional. Do you need to improve the quality of your sleep? What you can do tonight to start improving it? 09.01.2022 Does this resonate with you?

05.01.2022 If you follow my stories you’ll know I spend time out in nature every day! Here’s why I love and recommend #naturetherapy to all my clients.. Scientific studies have proven the beneficial effects of spending time out in nature, especially on our mental health. It can have a restorative effect on our minds and increase our feelings of well-being. Some ways of incorporating more nature into your day include:... Exercise outdoors away from the main roads. Walk along your local nature trail, the beach or in your local park. Greenspaces are becoming a priority for local councils so check out where yours are. Get up close and personal with nature, lay out on the grass or sit under a tree. Introduce a few indoor plants, grow your own herbs or plants in pots on a balcony or start a small garden patch depending how much room you have. Surrounding yourself with greenery has a positive effect! Add some beautiful nature scenes as a screensaver or wallpaper to your computer or mobile phone. This method has also proven beneficial for increasing our connectedness to nature and its ongoing positive effects. Tell me in the comments your fave ways to get your daily nature fix? See more
