04.01.2022 Check out these tiny pineapples carvings- They live on an 1850s manor house in Geelong. Bit of pineapple history- After Christopher Columbus first spotted the fruit in 1493 it was imported from the Caribbean to the western world. Back then a single pineapple could fetch up to $8,000. This high cost was due to the perishability, novelty, exoticism, and scarcity of the fruit.... Affluent colonists would throw dinner parties and display a pineapple as the centerpiece, a symbol of their wealth, hospitality, and status, instantly recognizable by a party’s guests.
