20.01.2022 It’s threatened species day, and this is the Leadbeaters Possum. Incase you didn’t realise, this tiny little possum once thrived in the Mountain Ash and alpine forests around Victoria, and is the reason it is the state faunal emblem. Due to logging and fires (habitat loss) it is now critically endangered. We have many tree hollows in the gums here at OWWR, and will continue to do what we can to preserve habitat for the possums and birds that rely on them. ... Huge thanks to the ongoing work of Friends of Leadbeater's Possum Inc., Wildlife of the Central Highlands - WOTCH and Great Forest National Park for their continuing work in preserving remaining habitat.
