22.01.2022 Whether your budget is large or... not so large, my recommendation is to spend the lion's share of it on the items that will have the biggest impact and stay the course. For this lovely bedroom, the priority was installing beautiful blockout curtains. These curtains were the launchpad for all other selections in this room - including the elegant side tables and lamps with a touch of brass and the velvet occasional chair (all in block colours). The liveliness comes about thro...ugh the art, bed linen and cushions - and overall they create a gentle balance between the masculine and feminine. These luscious curtains were made by Timms Curtain House in Brisbane

21.01.2022 Haven't worked with an interior designer before but need a little help? Did you know you can hire a designer for a day? Yup!... Sometimes you just need some advice about furniture placement, some help with narrowing down your kitchen cabinetry selections and paint options, I can even help with shopping! ... I know what it's like to walk around endlessly, looking at every sofa that's ever been created! So how does it work? You choose the things you’d like assistance with, and we’ll spend the day together exploring the best options for you. It’s a great way to get unstuck on a project you’ve been working on. As an example, I’ve helped clients with the following: BATHROOMS: recommending new plumbing and vanity options to reduce cost but maximise storage; visiting the right showrooms to compare options and prices; recommending new paint and grout colours to improve the look of existing tiles. LIVING ROOMS: selecting all new furniture for an inner city rental following a brief from the client and a quick measure of the space, we targeted only the best showrooms for her style. COLOUR CONSULTATION: helping a client select new rendered wall finishes and paint colours for their upcoming internal painting project. They wanted to update their 80’s brick home so it reflected their personal style. At the end of our day together, I’ll leave you with the information you need to get moving, so you can take it from there. Easy! If you're interested in having the help of a designer for the day, I'd love to chat! Please contact me for further info.

18.01.2022 Sometimes blending old and new in a renovation can be tricky, especially when you’re trying to keep as many of the original features as possible. In this Queenslander home, the owners were keen to keep it quite neutral, but not white. We used Dulux’s Kinder Quarter as the predominant wall colour its subtle blue colour intensifies throughout the day so the home is crisp and bright in the sunlight and a bit more demure and cocooning at night time. It’s a lovely way to add a subtle background colour while highlighting the beautiful vintage features in a darker hue.

16.01.2022 Neutral, but NOT white... These selections are all about adding softness and creating a toned-down backdrop for the punchier furniture, feature lighting and artwork. I can’t wait to show you the pendant light for the dining room !! It's just the right pop of saturated colour against this more subdued backdrop. I believe that now more than ever, creating a home that feels calm, welcoming and 'just right' for you is so important. I hope everyone's taking care of themselves an...d and that your homes are cocooning you during these challenges. So...Yay or nay?? I'd love to know your thoughts about a non-white interior?? or

14.01.2022 My diet has taken a hit these past few days! But there's so much goodness in a cheeky lunch with with a lovely friend x Anyhoo - in this room, different rugs and a recurring blue thread helped to create different but connected zones, while the green and yellow print brings some of the lovely outdoors inside. Washable fabrics and tough textures ensure this space is super family friendly as well. Happy Wednesday, friends!

07.01.2022 Why texture matters to me (or why going rogue with the touchy-feely stuff is so important) Mixing up your textures is one of the easiest ways to add interest, volume and something a little unexpected in your interiors. Especially if you’d prefer to keep your colour palette pretty restrained, different textures in variations of your chosen colours can work wonders! Different surfaces and fabrics reflect light differently and drape differently, and so the exact same colour in ...a shiny finish can look totally different in a nubbly fabric for your cushions, and different again in a wool rug. Not that I’d want an entire room in the exact same colour but variations of similar colours, in different textures can be lovely. And sometimes, you don’t even need real texture you can get away with a solid finish that looks like it’s adding something textural (oooh sneaky!), like a timber grain finish that’s actually smooth to the touch.
