02.01.2022 The Blue Tongued Skink, most commonly know to me as a blue tongued lizard. This little fellow appeared right out of nowhere in the middle of my excavated track. For a split second i thought it was a snake and it scared the living day lights out of me.... I must have dug up the hole it was hiding in and luckily it just fell out without even a scratch. I got in close to have a little look and as you can see it was not happy with me being so close. Fun fact. When threatened, blue-tongues turn towards the threat, open their mouth wide and stick out their broad blue tongue, which contrasts vividly with the pink mouth. This display, together with the large size of the head, may frighten off predators. If the threat does not go away, blue-tongues may hiss and flatten out the body to make themselves look bigger.
