25.01.2022 I look forward to coaching the 2021 Barwon Program with Matt Hicks! The program is also supported by Sacha Vlamynck, Ry Davies, Julie Golightly & Carolyn Mcgann who will help deliver the weekly squad sessions. This is a great opportunity for players in the Barwon Region to create a "Performance Environment" ... Players must be regular participants in Tennis Australia sanctioned tournaments and should have an aim of becoming an elite tennis player. Players will receive if selected into the program: 10 x specialist Sunday sessions with TV Regional Coach/es (3hrs per session) Sessions are either 9.00am 12.00pm or 2pm- 5pm. (Dates and times TBC) Weekly Squad session's will be held on 6 occasions for Terms 1, 2, 3 & 4 Strength and conditioning (20+ sessions for athletes 14+ age or 5 S & C education for U14 in tennis program) Education program (15+ opportunities) 3 x piece uniform Muscular skeletal screen Group nutrition session Group sports psychology session Gym membership to Leisure link (U/16s have restrictions in gym use) Administration support for coordination of Sunday sessions, Friday hitting sessions $1000 towards hitting sessions Program manager support ( Cameron Govan ) We are proud to roll out the new structure & coaching team for the 2021 year. 09.01.2022 Geelong has been fortunate to be able to host a Tennis Australia Coaching Course. This course is a great a way to start your coaching journey, the Community Coaching course is suitable for those would like to begin coaching tennis, or who are currently coaching under guidance of a qualified tennis coach. This course trains coaches to develop the skills or junior tennis players with a focus on the ANZ Hot Shots program.... The majority of the time during the course is spent on- court with participants actively learning to deliver coaching sessions where players serve, rally and score using modified balls, racquets, nets & courts appropriate to the development needs as a trainee coach. COURSE DETAILS: 5pm-7pm Wednesday 25 November, Online Learning session 9am- 5pm Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 November- On Court session @ Geelong Lawn Tennis Club. 06.01.2022 We all started somewhere... My journey started representing Barwon which provided me with match play oppurtunities against metro and regional athletes. Growing up we did not have any Regional Squads. ... My dad (Phil) used to drive me to Melbourne Park 3 night's a week at the age of 12! What a champ!!!!!! I was lucky that this provided me with a high performance training enviorment. I'm proud and excited to now be able to provide Barwon athletes this opportunity in our Region.

01.01.2022 A great oppitunity to start competing again!

01.01.2022 A common error I'm seeing amoungest young players is the arms not separating on the serve motion. Which leaves players with a serve without any rhythm and flow (waiter tray too). I have been using 3 progessive drills to develop the ball toss arm lead the racquet, which takes 10 minutes to complete. Here is matilda at the start of serving and ... end of serving An overall great improvement in a short amount of time. Super job @matildajablonski_ enjoy being a teenager now....Happy Birthday!
