22.01.2022 Dear Parishioners, families and visitors, Following the Premier's announcement this morning, we have received additional advice from the Archdiocese of Brisbane via Bishop Kenneth Howell. The following information is current from 6pm this evening (11th January) up until 1am Friday 22nd January. Key Takeaway for Attending Mass... Parishioners must book for Mass this weekend to ensure restricted numbers (1 per 4 sq metres) can be achieved. Face masks must be worn by everyone (with the exceptions outlined below) Our Masses and Churches Capacity of all churches has been returned to 1 person per 4 square metres. The Trybooking links have been adjusted to accomodate the revised numbers. It is essential parishioners book for Masses over the next 10 days. The booking link is www.ipswichcatholic.com/booking Anyone entering our churches must wear a face mask at all times. The only exceptions are (those with a diagnosed medical condition preventing the use of a face mask, children under 12 years of age, and the priest while saying Mass). Those coming to communion can slide down their mask just before arriving to the minister, receive Holy Communion, and then receive Holy Communion in the hand, and replacing the mask upon consumption of the Host. The priest will wear his mask during the distribution of Holy Communion also. Funerals & Weddings The same rules apply above for funerals and weddings with a maximum of 100 people, however if church limits are below 100, the church limit is in force. Parish Office Visitors to the Parish Office must wear face mask. Please only visit the Parish Office if it is essential (please don't book for Masses in person over the next 10 days). As we are in school holiday time, I don't believe these interim restrictions will be too difficult to accomodate in our Parish. I will provides further updates as required. Thanks for your patience during this time. Fr. Stephen Bliss ofm Parish Priest

21.01.2022 This year we celebrate 200 years of Catholic Education. The Ipswich Catholic Community thank and acknowledge our Catholic Schools: - all the thousands of students who have been part of our 6 schools, hundreds of teachers present and past, and the many families of our community who have supported Catholic Education over the years. We have one of the oldest Catholic schools in the System and 6 of the best Schools in the System and Religious Institute Schools. We acknowledged the Religious Sisters and Religious Brothers and pioneering families who established our schools. Thank you and congratulations! Share a memory of our great schools ...... A special celebration will be held in St Mary’s Church in First Term, hosted by Brisbane Catholic Education.

20.01.2022 Thank you to all families who completed the survey (during Mass or online) to assist with the planning of Christmas Masses. There was an overwhelming desire to celebrate Christmas in our churches, therefore we won’t be using the Showgrounds this year. Over the next week I will be discussing Mass times and locations with the Parish Advisory Council. Once finalised details will be communicated and bookings will also opened. Stephen ofm

08.01.2022 At the end of Ordinary Time - Experience of Journey Our faith perspective is nourished by rhythms of time and celebrations. To many, the word ordinary suggests sameness. Nothing could be further from the truth in this Season. The origin of the Latin tempus ordinarii is: ordinal or counted time. The numbering of the Sundays in Ordinary Time is the way the Church organises its year. A time for listening, learning and building, a ‘growing time’. Thus, the colour used in ...Ordinary Time is green to remind us that we are tending new growth as we develop and equip our community for its on-going mission. This Sunday we will celebrate the feast of Christ the King. In confidence we call upon you, O God, and so we pray: Fountain of Love, you provide water for the thirsty; May we always give thanks for your endless gifts. Comforting God, in your mercy you drive away our fears; Help us reach beyond fears that keep us imprisoned. Faithful Companion, walk with us along our journey; Enable us to accept diversities among us and to bless all who walk, with integrity, a different road from our own. Liberating God, you make the desert bloom and bring hope and beauty; Free us to bring that beauty and hope to people in need of refreshment. O God, author of all truth, we rejoice in the faith that draws us together, aware selfishness can drive us apart. Let your encouragement be our constant strength. Keep us true in the love that has sealed our lives, as we seek to live the Gospel we profess. We ask this in Jesus’ name and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
