23.01.2022 This week, the Year Six class will lead students from Pre-Primary to Year Five through some spectacular science experiments! The Year Six class has worked very hard with Mrs Gleeson to prepare their activities. We are looking forward to sharing their experiments later in the week!

22.01.2022 This weekend, Our Lady of Fatima Parish celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. Congratulations to the Year Six students and parish members who received the sacrament. Special thanks to Archbishop Hickey, Father Francis, Mrs Szefczyk and Miss Abreu for helping to prepare the students and the lovely service.

Thank you to Father Francis, Mrs Szefczyk and the Year 4 teachers for helping prepare the students and creating such a beautiful service.

21.01.2022 Faction Athletics Carnival: What a great day we had at Aquinas College last Friday. The sun was shining and the participation level and sportsmanship from the children was fantastic. It was a wonderful day for our community and we really appreciate the assistance and support provided by so many people. Well done to La Salle on winning the overall shield and to Genevieve for winning the spirit shield!

21.01.2022 To finish off the term and round out our virtue focus on PARTICIPATION, the Year 5 & 6 netball team took on the staff in a friendly game. Cheered on by the entire school, the game was lots of fun and played in the right spirit. Thank you to Miss Lee for organizing.

21.01.2022 Today we welcome the season of Kambarang. Warming, rains finishing. During the Kambarang season, we see an abundance of colours and flowers exploding all around us. The yellows of many of the Acacias continue to abound, along with some of the Banksias and many other smaller delicate flowering plants including the Kangaroo Paw and Orchids. Also during this time the Balgas will also start to flower, especially if they've been burnt in the past year or closely shaved. One of the... most striking displays of flowers to be seen during this season will be the "Mooja", or Australian Christmas Tree (Nuytsia). The bright orange/yellow flowers serve to signal the heat is on its way. Source: http://www.bom.gov.au/iwk/nyoongar/kambarang.shtml

18.01.2022 Last week our Year 6 students went on a 3 day adventure camp. It was a great opportunity for them to push their limits and get out of their comfort zone. It was also a wonderful way for the group to bond before heading off to high school next year. Thank you to Miss Abreu and Mr Hansen for accompanying and caring for them. They all came back with smiles and lots of stories to share.

18.01.2022 It has great to see the students and community embracing our virtue of KINDNESS this week. While kindness has many shapes and forms, eating well is one way that you can practice kindness to yourself and your family. If you like to get in the kitchen to make lunchbox snacks for your family on the weekend to prepare for the week, then give this Chia pudding recipe a go as demonstrated by the Pavez Family in the video below. The recipe, along with some other great food and welln...ess tips, can be found at https://www.kristenpavez.com//mango-lemongrass-and-chia-pu

18.01.2022 This Wednesday is our P&F Fundraiser Pasta Day. You can place your order at: https://www.schoollunchonline.com.au/

17.01.2022 Well done to all the students at Our Lady of Fatima for getting behind our bread tag collection. The collection was initiated by our Sustainability Leader who collected and counted all of the tags. The school managed to collect a whopping 8786 bread tags that will be used to make wheelchairs for the less fortunate. Great job!

16.01.2022 Last week the Year 5 class travelled to Busselton for their Surf Camp. They had lots of fun and have come back with lots of stories. Thank you to the teachers and parents who accompanied them.

15.01.2022 This week we encourage all students and the community to focus on the virtue of PARTICIPATION. Life is all about having a go and learning from your experiences. We can't wait to see everyone participating at Friday's Athletics Carnival. 15.01.2022 As we focus on the virtue of being COURAGEOUS this fortnight, don’t forget to sign up and come along to Friday Fiesta at the end of this week! Click the link below to get involved https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/friday-fiesta-at-olof-ticke

14.01.2022 Next week we celebrate NAIDOC Week as a school community. The theme this year is, Always was, Always will be. As a school, we will explore the way the Whadjuk Noongar People have used and conserved Australia’s resources, in a caring way, by following the Six Noongar seasons. The students have been working hard to research a season and are looking forward to bringing their research to life on a banner with artist Dixie Bonney! If families would like to learn more about the S...ix Noongar Seasons, we encourage you to visit Piney Lakes Reserve to do the Bidi Katitjiny Aboriginal Women's Trail. This is a self guided walk in the City of Melville. Along the trail there are storyboards depicting the seasons. Please see the following link containing the map and information about the trail: https://www.melvillecity.com.au//Bidi-Katitjiny-Aboriginal See more

14.01.2022 Today the Year Sixes wowed the Pre-Primary and Year Two classes with their super science experiments and scientific thinking! #scienceweek2020

12.01.2022 Earlier this term, our Sustainability Leaders started a bread tag collection initiative. The collected tags are donated and recycled to create wheelchairs for those in need. The school has enthusiastically jumped onboard the initiative with many classes already filling their jars. Amazingly, the Year 1 class has collected over 1200 tags this term and even managed 562 in a single week! They were the winners of our donut day prize. A great example of the hard work of our Year 6 leaders.

10.01.2022 Our virtue focus for the next fortnight is KINDNESS. Kindness is something that is easy and simple to display but has a big impact on those other people around us. We can model kindness in our families and community by simple acts and the way we treat others. Keep an eye out for our special kindness activity coming soon!

10.01.2022 Yesterday, the Kindy, Pre-Primary, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 4 classes worked with Dixie Bonney to create banners that represent the Six Noongar Seasons and our school community. The students especially enjoyed connecting the story of the mural Dixie created to our edible Tucker Bush garden. The Pre-Primary class are planning to use the native thyme from our garden in a traditional damper recipe next week!

09.01.2022 Well done to all of the parents and students who took part in Friday Fiesta. The community activity was organized by the Wellness Committee to encourage people to show courage and try something new. There was as much smiling as there was salsa dancing and a great time was had by all. Thank you to Diana Rios who led and taught all of the willing participants.... Keep an eye and ear out for our next community wellness activity coming early next term.

07.01.2022 Today, students in Pre-Kindy, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 6 worked with Artist Dixie Bonney to create class banners that reflect their knowledge and understanding of the Six Noongar Seasons. Dixie told the story of the mural she created earlier in the year which was inspired by our Tucker Bush edible garden.

06.01.2022 Today we welcome the season of Birak. Hot and dry. During Birak season, the rain eases and the warm weather really starts to take hold. The afternoons are cooled by the sea breezes from the south west. Traditionally, this was the fire season. An almost clockwork style of easterly winds in the morning and sea breezes in the afternoon meant that this was burning time of the year for Noongar people and they would burn the country in mosaic patterns. There are several reasons fo...r this, including fuel reduction, increasing the grazing pastures for animals, to aid seed germination and to make it easier to move across the country. There are many fledglings venturing out of nests in Birak, though some are still staying close to their parents such as magpies and parrots. Reptiles will also be shedding their old skin for a new one. With the rising temperatures and the decreasing rainfall, it's also a time for the baby frogs to complete their transformation into adulthood. 03.01.2022 Today we fall silent for one minute at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month to remember those who have served their country during war. Lest we forget.

03.01.2022 Thank you to our Year 4 class who led our Remembrance Day Service and Liturgy at 11am today and to our Kindergarten class who also observed 1 minute silence. Lest we forget

02.01.2022 With Christmas time fast approaching, Our Lady of Fatima School will again be participating in the 2020 Christmas Appeal to make a difference to someone’s life this Christmas. This year, we would like all families to bring in suitable donations to place in the collection baskets in the classrooms. Items such as non-perishable foods, drinks, and toiletries are greatly appreciated. The Christmas appeal will run over two weeks from Monday, 23 November through to Thursday, 3 Dece...mber. A representative from the St Vincent de Paul Society will receive our donations at our Christmas Assembly in Week 8. Thank you in advance for all the backing you have given to the school throughout the year to support the good works of the St Vincent de Paul Society and other charitable agencies!
