16.01.2022 Class 5/6 Mr Leigh Turbill Over this year we have been learning about coding - coding is when you place a series of ‘blocks’ or instructions and if you place these blocks correctly you can run various programs. In the second term the 5/6 students have been using that knowledge of coding in our robotics program by working with a robotic kit called Spike.... This robotic kit allows you to build various types of robots and when we create the correct code you can get them to perform various functions including: dancing, sit ups and even a weather forecaster! The students, in addition to the coding, are learning various skills including: design and construction skills, teamwork, solving various problems and following build instructions - they are also having some fun as well! Check out this awesome video!

15.01.2022 'You Raise Me Up' Video: While the young man singing in this video is Matthew, an old scholar from St Michael’s College at Henley Beach, it could just as easily be any young person from any of our schools who has journeyed through their education and graduated as a confident young adult about to explore new horizons and take on the world. We hope this speaks to your heart about why we do what we do at Catholic Education South Australia.

14.01.2022 The year 1/2 students from Mrs Keera Master's Class have received more mail from their pen pals in Warracknabeal, Victoria! It has been so exciting to receive something in the post and to get to know other students through their letters. Our pen pals have been sending us lots of information about what they like to do at school and at home; and have been telling us lots about some of the things they do in their town and on their farms. ... Because our pen pals live in Victoria, lots of them are learning from home at the moment. To keep them from getting bored over the next few weeks, we are going to share our learning of procedure texts with them and send them a 'how to' text to show them how they can make or do something. To explain our text we are learning how to use, headings, titles, lists, steps, photos and diagrams. Writing letters is so much fun and we can't wait to hear back from our pen pals later this term!

08.01.2022 Hello everyone Another ‘Thank you’ to you and your families with regard to our recent collection to assist the Adelaide Day Centre and the Moore St Soup Kitchen. The donations were taken into the city during the school holidays. The young gentleman that I spoke to, Joel, was overwhelmed with how much there was from our school.... We talked a little about the vegetable garden that they tend and how important the donations from communities such as ours are vital to their very existence. During the holidays we received a lovely card from Sr Nola Morrissy on behalf of the staff at Adelaide Day Centre. In it she wrote: "It is inspiring to know that the children at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School, even at this early age, are learning about Social Justice, and are aware of those less fortunate than themselves." Thank you again everyone for your hard work with this. Take care, Patrick. Here is a photo of Joel from the Adelaide Day Centre with the donations generously supplied by the community of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School, Albert Park.
