09.01.2022 Have you wormed your chickens? Chickens often pick up worms as a result of foraging. Generally, worms are transmitted through droppings, as they live in the droppings of an infected bird. These worms will then stay on the ground until they are picked up by another chicken thats foraging around for food. Symptoms of a worm infestation in chickens can include: worms in eggs, abnormal droppings, (diarrhea, foamy-looking, etc) weight loss, pale comb/wattles, listlessness, abnor...mal droppings, dirty vent feathers, worms in droppings or throat, gasping, head-stretching and shaking, reduced egg production and sudden death. Generally its good to worm your flock twice a year (or as needed) Always worm them twice - once to paralyze & evict adult parasites & again in 7-14 days (depending on the product) to eradicate the worms that have hatched since treatment.
